Dr. McAllister is extremely disrespectful. I should have defended myself more, but unfortunately I felt bullied by Dr. McAllister and his female assistant. I walked into the room and began telling my story of how I tore my ACL, and he motioned for me to get to the point of my story. You should not be treating patients like this, especially if I am PAYING YOU. Although irrelevant, he laughed at my major in school and implied it was worth nothing. I also told him of my summer plans of going up north and it seemed as he didn’t think I could handle the “wilderness”. I sensed a bit of misogyny in his character. My summer plans disallowed me to getting knee work done until September, and he blamed me for mixing up schedules. He was not accommodating at all.Originally, I was supposed to go to Waterloo for surgery, but I graduated at the university so I figured it would be MORE CONVENIENT to have the surgery in Waterloo. Apparently, Dr. McAllister hates the word “convenient” and went on a tangent on how terrible patients are for “finding other orthopedic surgeons while they’re already in the system”. He made me feel extremely stupid. Nonetheless, HE made me decide on what the next steps were.I paid $25 for an orthopedic surgeon to assess my ACL tear, but I found out during the assessment that Dr. McAllister is retired, and he hesitantly referred me to ANOTHER orthopedic surgeon in Scarborough. If I wanted the surgery in Scarborough, then I would have made arrangements there. Additionally, he told me no one in Oshawa is “fit enough to do the job”, so I understand why he made the referral, but why could this not have been discussed over the phone? At other facilities, you can meet more respectful surgeons and pay NOTHING. Though the time wait to book an appointment to see Dr. McAllister was relatively quick (1 week), it was not worth it.The final issue that made me cry was parking. The receptionist rudely yelled at me for a piece of information she told me about parking that she was not clear about. He wasted both his time and my time. I will definitely be going back to Waterloo for my surgery.

Very professional and knowledgeable staff. Worthwhile expense for a simple exercise regimen to strengthen hips and core taking load off arthritic left knee.

Jennifer did a great job working on my fixed shoulders. 3 sessions and already I have much better rotation.

Years ago I came and saw this clinic with a litany of issues, got passed off between their physiotherapists and just got an overwhelming sense of You're hopeless" and "We're giving up on you" from them. Would give me like 2 hours of exercises to do a day and then every appointment would just hook me up to a TENS machine instead of doing any actual work.I would perform the exercises and stretches every day and when I'd tell them I'm not seeing any improvements they'd become frustrated instead of trying to figure out a new solution.I eventually gave up on them as well since it felt like I was wasting money and accepted my pain for 2 years

I began going to active recovery after a work related injury and they knew exactly how to take care of the injury. Their staff are courteous and they do their best to ensure that they work with your schedule.

Poor service. I'm not one to make reviews however had to share this experience. After delivery I experienced a lot of back pain and had pretty intense post carpal tunnel. I visited active recovery and walked out feeling worse than when I went in. Waste of $100. I had a doctor's note that I shared with the staff. She read it out loud to me and talked about what it meant. That was ok but I needed options for treatment. When I asked her she said their wasn't much. She poked around my neck and back then told me to do a couple stretches. She spent over half the appointment talking about the note again and kept checking the clock. Then left for a few minutes because her next patient came. When returned pretty much cut short the appointment only tending to one part of my appointment. when I asked when we can discuss my other issue she told me we didn't have enough time and would need to make another appointment. Underwhelmed with this experience. Would not recommend or would not return.
