A Great Notion

You have to practically have to beg them to cut fabric for you. Is that not what they are there for. I called to see if they would be open on a stat holiday and was told very rudely told tphey were not. A polite sorry we are not would have been the better way to answer.NOT the only place in town to buy fabric.

Small shop that is well stocked for a sewist, both quilting and machine embroidery. Helpful staff and so many notions!

Worse customer service ever, I went there looking to purchase a sewing machine it was me and another lady looking at them, the sale lady asked the white person of she needed help when she answered I am just looking she turned around and completely ignore me, so I will purchase my sewing machine from some one that will appreciate my business, everyone in there is so rude except the nice gentleman. The huge lady at the cash register is the worse, if it is to much inconvenience she should not work.I am glad they are closing with that awful customer service.

I avoid this store as must as possible. I only use them if I can't get what I need elsewhere. Staff is rude and clueless. They broke my sewing machine during a routine machine check, and had the nerve to say I brought it in broken. They also lost the power cord . Just go elsewhere. Fabricland is good for fabric if you are a member, they have good sales. Dinkydoo is newer store in Maple Ride, it has great fabric & notion selection. Staff are nicer too. Hamels Fabric in Chilliwack is worth the drive from Langley. I hate that I have to make any big purchases at A Great Notion. They are the only listed dealer of a machine I was hoping to purchase. After this latest experience I will be ordering straight from the Dealer.

My wife loves the selection and they service machines at a reasonable rate. Friendly staff and great sewing machine selection along with fabric and classes!

I share some of the same issues with those who have posted regarding the lack of service. As my husband has stated, they all seem like wet noodles." No one seems to smile and I feel like I am an imposition when I arrive to shop. I only go here if I absolutely can't find something elsewhere. I am not sure if the Abbotsford store is as awful as the Surrey location."

Don't bring your sewing machine here to be serviced! When my wife dropped off her machine she was told 2 weeks for service. When she called after 3 weeks she was told it could take up to six weeks. Then at 6 weeks when she called again, she was told to contact the sub contractor that AGN had sent her machine to (unprofessional). The sub contractor would not take phone calls so she could only text. She received rude texts back saying he would not look for her machine and told her he will get to it when he can. Needless to say she got it back 7 weeks later un-serviced and was not compensated at all. So save your self the hassle and valuable time and take your machine directly to a service shop.

Later... The people who received my order refused it (thank goodness!) and sent it back. A Great Notion contacted me and said they will send it on - hopefully this works. HOWEVER: I hope they UPDATE their computer info, because I filled in THE CORRECT ADDRESS INFORMATION when I ordered and they STILL didn't send it to the correct address.I gave it 2 stars only because it used to be a decent mail order sewing shop... HOWEVER, I recently placed an order from the website - or tried to - you fill out the order form in the cart, go through the process for address, shipping, etc. and then... it says you can't pay and have to call the shop to place the order. What a mess! AND THAT WASN'T THE END... so I called and placed the order, waited over a week and they finally shipped - TO THE WRONG ADDRESS!!! In another town!!! I called and told them it was the wrong address - they said I would have to wait for it to be delivered, see if the people there refuse it and if Canada Post returns it, they will send it on. Meanwhile I'VE HAD TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I MAY NEVER GET!!!!! You'd think they would either refund the money if they can't deliver it, or replace the products, since it is their mistake. Yeah - I see they have got a lot of reviews here for rude and bad service. Shoulda been warned...

Enrolled in a course here, very kind staff. Had a great instructor and it was fun. The store is laid out very well, and has lots of goodies for all your heart's desires!
