Meat the Butcher Fine Meats

I admire businesses that make an unapologetic commitment to quality and ethical food sources. Sure, we pay a little more but the product we take home is superior. Meat the Butcher is a family owned shop specializing in farm sources reasonably close to North Vancouver. One of the owners a trained chef, so if you have questions about cooking, just ask and you will get useful answers. A number of items—sausages, stocks, soups, etc.—offered for sale are made in-house and there are many food products and condiments, typically artisan brands.

Always great service and the meat is excellent quality. This is our family's favorite spot to get the essentials when it comes to good meat.

Meat the Butcher is one of the best Butcher shops I have ever been to. They have amazing prices for the quality of the cuts that they have and they always go for quality versus quantity which you often get when going to other places that offer cheaper cuts like Costco or Superstore. They also have very exotic spices that are quite difficult to find and the staff is always helpful and always ask what you're cooking. I highly recommend them!!!

The best butchers I have ever been to. They have a wide range of organic, grass fed and ethically sourced meats. Full of knowledge and great customer service. Highly recommend going here!

Nice location, clean well organized store but the staff knowledge was not up to par - they didn’t know what GAMMON was.

Sam and Caroline are our family’s go-to butchers. They source local product, care about their customers, and provide knowledgeable and friendly service. Sam introduced me to lamb from Harmony farms in Kamloops, pork from Geldermans in Abbotsford, and other local BC product. His traditional South African boerewors is also a family favorite. (hint - only buy sausage from a trusted source….) I recommend his whole roasted chicken for weekdays when you need a glass of wine and a decent (quick) meal for the family. Sam is also my go-to guy for special occasions. When I need to sous-vide a turkey, I talk to Sam. When I want to treat my Dad on his birthday to a porchetta, Sam does all the hard work. When it is time for Vijs lamb popsicles, Sam frenches the rack. Bottom line is that he is more expensive than the box stores around, but the personal touch, extra service, and the quality meat makes the difference.

Absolutely love this place. My only regret is not going sooner. Delicious meats, great selection, very reasonably priced, super helpful staff. Always going above and beyond with rock solid recommendations. Left last time with a few bones for some beef bone broth (added tomato paste in pic). Turned out incredible.

Love this place best meat and cheese and crackers a hidden gem. Always excellent friendly service.

I‘m not sure how this store survives economically as I find it most of the times closed.Their products are very good though. Would be nice they would open up earlier.
