Amazing and friendly faculty

After 7 years at this school, I feel I can offer a well rounded review. The thing about this school that stands out is the parent involvement. So much depends on the volunteer time from parents and it is significant. The parents were always ready to give time for outings, bake sales, the yearly fun fair, the walks and runs for different charities. It was always impressive. The curriculum is good. The students are given a solid base for high school. The Extended Day Program is outstanding. The music program is phenomenal. The monitors know every individual child well. It shows clearly that they care. The early years really are the best. The later years can be difficult. Bullying is clearly happening at that school. I don't believe there are enough monitors in the school. The classes are getting bigger and that means more pressure on the teachers. The school started a No Homework pilot. This can be a good thing only if teachers are actively giving feedback to parents, which I did not experience. You are not aware of any problems with school work until it's too late. Even when a child is doing badly in a subject (close to failing) there's no mention of a need to meet the teacher. You are rarely aware of what your child is learning at any given moment because they encourage the students to leave their books at school. Sometimes all you get from a teacher is the report card. If a school choses a No Homework program, there needs to be more interaction with parents. A website with a mention on what the students were learning that week would go very far in helping parents help their kids. This is my reasoning for a 3 star review because in the end, it's a school. I do not believe grade 6 has prepared my child for high school.

It is beautiful school, i like it

My kid went here from K to 6. A good neighbourhood school. No need to queue up like zombies to get in any other nearby public school. Well rounded curriculum, strong parent involvement.
