Seniors Centre at Minoru Centre

One of the newest community centers in BC, well maintained and full of resources!

Great lively helpful center. Exclusive programs for seniors. Everything from dancing, singing to woodworking and calligraphy. Cheap and free programs. Excellent cheap cafeteria.

I went to this new senior center and asked whether I need membership for the program on Feb 24 around 2pm. The Chinese female receptionist is extremely unfriendly and didn't bother to talk to me for only less than 15 seconds. No eye contact at all, only focus on the computer when she answered less than 20 words. They need to have someone who is more patient with the seniors.

Ballroom Dance Level 1 class is finally back. Please join or this wonderful new Instructor, Candy, would not be able to continue with her class. On Oct 3, when I went to my first class of Ballroom Dance Level 1, I was asked to move to Level 2 due to insufficient students. This is my second attempt to join this Level 1 class. Happily, my beloved Senior's Centre has just hired a new Instructor & Level 1 class can now continue. Instructor Candy is funny & patient. In addition, she can pinpoint student's weakness & provide the necessary remedy tip. After only one class on Oct 10, I am now motivated to practice everyday at home & go to dancing parties during the weekends. Bravo, Instructor Candy... two thumbs up... Minoru Place Senior's Centre, especially the classes, is not just for Seniors. People or couple of all ages can join. Let us keep this exciting Level 1 class going from one season to another...

Needs more Level 2 electric car recharging plugs and spots nearby.

I am happy to share with you my fantastic experience at Ballroom Dance Class Level 1. The new instructor, Candy, is kind, helpful & insightful. I shall join again with my partner if the class, with the same instructor, starts again. The Senior Centre needs at least six students to form a class. Please come to the Centre and have some fun & exercise with us.

The facility is now closed and has been moved to the new Minoru Centre for Active Living at 9171 Granville Ave.

Went for my class today at the Centre (Nov. 5th) and was very pleased with the wonderful Remembrance Day Display, whoever did it must be congratulated. I was particularly taken with it as it was commemorating the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry who are celebrating 100 years this year. My father had two brothers who were in the PPCLI and they both fought in Italy - both came home. We are proud to be Canadian and we are proud of our troops then and now. I have taken pictures of the display to post on my FaceBook page - will phone the Centre tomorrow to make sure I don't need their permission to post a couple of pictures.
