Red Granite Point
Unique geology and ecology in the area. The walk starts at a small spit that forms a gorgeous bay and beach. The red granite is first recognizable as the striking red pebbles that dominate the beach and then as the red cliffs of the coast further along. The color of the rock contrasts beautifully with the unique plants, lichens, and mosses in the area. Up top the red granite forms smooth bluffs with excellent views of the coast looking towards Savory Island. There is unique ecology up here with stunted, windswept pines and even a small sphagnum bog at the top along with the iconic bluff ecology. The area is privately owned but the trail is open to the public.
