If you are looking for the best martial arts place for your kids, your family or yourself I highly recommend Alex Foley's Academy of Martial Arts! The instructors and the Junior Leaders are amazing! Not only will you learn Martial Arts there, but you will also learn to build core life skills such as self-discipline, confidence and perseverance. But best of all is the friendship that you build there and the incredible support you get from one another is second to none! My son joined karate when he was 4 and he is now 10 and still loving every second of it! I, myself, also have been training at Alex Foley's for a few years and I can tell you that I love this place and it's like our second home! If you are thinking about trying a class, do it now, look no further, you won't regret it! :)

I have been apart of AFAMA for 13 years and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. The family, the friendships, the atmosphere is like nothing else. Martial arts and being apart of AFAMA has helped me become who I am today, helped give me confidence and opportunities like no other. We have been part of AFAMA for almost 10 years now. My kids are enrolled in multiple programs and I can not express how much we love our “dojo family”. The programs are great and the atmosphere is amazing.

Highly recommend AFAMA to anyone looking to train in martial arts. Excellent instructors and programs in karate, kick boxing, point sparring, self defence, weapons and jiu jitsu. My kids have gained such confidence, discipline and strength. We have always felt welcome at the dojo since day one!

I started taking classes - women's and general adults - for self defense reasons. I was expecting to learn the basics to help better protect myself, with the mindset that it would be awkward, uncomfortable, and I would feel totally out of place compared to everyone else. While I have learned some basics and feel confident in my ability to defend myself should the unfortunate need arise, I've also gained so much confidence, self awareness, and a second home at the dojo.Foley and his team are very knowledgable in martial arts, as well as being neuro-friendly and trauma informed, which allows them to approach teaching with a very compassionate discipline. You can see first hand how their approach adapts to the students' needs - whether it's based on their age, their physical needs, mental/emotional, etc. Their love for their sport combined with their seemingly endless patience and their desire to help others succeed has been the foundation to an incredibly welcoming environment that I haven't found elsewhere within any other sports community - as a coach, athlete or offical.I highly recommend AFAMA to everyone - whether it's for general exercise, for confidence building, self defence, emotional needs - honestly, there's not much that has come up in life that I haven't been able to work through on the mats, surrounded by some incredible people.

Amazing spot. Started at 18 with no prior martial arts training and have enjoyed every second of it. Alex Foley is an outstanding mentor and teacher. Everyone is very welcoming and it's a great atmosphere. If you are looking to start your martial arts journey AFAMA is definitely the right place!!
