AgeCare Skypointe

My Mom is here so I visit every day when I am in Calgary. She is well cared for and has settled in really well. The facility is clean and the staff seem very friendly, efficient and helpful.

My old Dad recently moved into Skypointe. It was a difficult decision but he seems comfortable and the staff nice. We visit him daily and like to take him for a wheelchair ride outside and around the building. I am just wondering about the garden care for the outdoor area. The garbage is building up and the sidewalks need a good sweep. I have been looking at the same masks tangled up in the dead bushes for a few weeks now.

My sister has been at Agecare Skypoint for a number of years. She appreciates the staff and her doctor. However, she complains that the food is horrible, too spicy and causes her distress. She basically lives on Boost which has contributed to her decline in health. Pleas for better food have gone unanswered. She asks for simple Canadian menus and she pays for it but doesn't receive it.

We want to thank the staff of AgeCare Skypointe hospice! The facility and staff were amazing. The compassion, professionalism and care provided to my father in-law in his last three days of life was spectacular. They helped make a very difficult situation bearable, and for that were are forever grateful.

I've never seen such a DISGUSTING place. Health care aides using the same gloves to wipe a residents bottom and then take their dentures out.Not changing gloves after changing the residents then touching the residents personal belongingsAbsolutely revolting please don't send your loved ones here.

I have been living here since 2018. Doctors care is non existent. I raised my concern with the health advocate and they told me that because age care is a privatized company there’s nothing that you can do. There are supposed to be moving us to a new building in October. That building is supposed to be run by Alberta Heath Services. It’s supposed to be better for us. So we shall see. Terrible neglect in this place.Also building maintenance is horrid. Loose wires, railings, paint that’s been peeling off walls. They don’t help with your room either. It’s hard to believe that this building is only 4 years old.

Very clean. Nice facility. Enjoyed the rec room and court area. Rooms are big and private. Close to shops and restaurants

My loved one is having personal hygiene items stolen from her room I report it, it goes on deaf ears. Furniture and hair curlers go missing during Covid lockdowns never been replaced. Nurse gave my loved one a drug she allergic to, went to the pharmacy and got it and it’s all over the charts not to give it to her luckily she didn’t die. She has bruises on her leg up up to her hip in October 2022, but no one knows why. I asked about a cut on her lip below her nose in August 2022 no one knows but I saw it and the Dr remembers it. Now the nurse was given her $5000.00 hearing aids by the HCA, she put themIn a tissue and they got thrown away. I’ve put locks on her bathroom cabinet and I’m asked why? I explain because things are going missing! I’m told oh that’s in the past. They won’t help brush my loved ones teeth she then has several cavities I beg them to help her it’s ignored. Before Covid I thought the place was great, since then I’m so scared for my loved ones safety and care. I’m mad that items disappear someone squeezed hair gel out of a tube and filled it back up with water! You can’t tell me a dementia patient did that.

Due to a falsified capacity assessment at the Strathmore Hospital by a unscrupulous doctor I have been forced into this facility against my will. While trying to get this situation resolved which is not progressing very well at all I thought it would be nice to keep my vehicle here so I can go for a drive once in a while to break up the boredom and monotony and possibly go out for something to eat since only about 1 in 5 meals here are actually decent. The soups are OK but everything else is largely unhealthy processed foods. For the exorbident amount of rent they charge one would think they could actually supply some decent meals. I tried to arrange for a parking spot only to be bounced around to 3 or 4 different people for a week until I finally gave up. I do not have much hope for anything else to be resolved if they can not even facilitate a simple little thing like a parking spot. I find the HCA's here mean and aggressive...some are nice but most are not. Most recently I have found out that the social worker (ANGELA WOJCIAK) who does not know me and has only met me for maybe 3 minutes is pushing for a guardianship order against me for reasons unknown to me. I am not happy here and hate every minute of every day. All very depressing. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my situation with someone with authority but so far my attempts have fallen on deaf ears. VERY DISAPPOINTED
