I contacted Sterling to represent me against an eviction notice that I felt was unjustified. Tom took the time to listen to me and explain the complete process that would be involved to defend me. He prepared a proper strategy based upon the facts involved while giving me concrete suggestions on how to add to the facts. I knew nothing about the process and was very intimidated by the landlord. Tom reviewed the paperwork, ensured our papers were in order on the court date, and guided us through the process. I had my son with me, and two witnesses but the relief I felt having a professional, with so much experience, with us, was worth any amount we could pay. The landlord arrived unprepared, arrogantly expecting to be believed, however Tom was able to calmly tear apart his accusations, and reveal the misinformation and unfounded allegations. All while following the letter of the law. The case was dismissed in a very thorough review from the adjudicator. The end result is I do not have to move until the end of my lease which was the outcome I had hoped for. Tom took care of all my paperwork with the German consulate and I am happy to report my situation is now clear and under control. He took time to explain everything to me and review all my documents, even the ones in German. My mother used him for pension matters when she was alive and he always came highly recommended. Sterling Paralegal helped me with my tenant who was not paying his rent, damaged the unit, and was doing everything he could to avoid being evicted. Tom and Loryn jumped right in to ensure the form we had already served on the Tenant had no critical errors. They then served a notice for the damage. When Sterling got the Notice of Hearing, they ensured it was served on the tenant so that he could not later say that he didn’t get the notice and appeal an eviction order. Tom appeared for us at the LTB hearing which meant that I didn’t have to take time off work or face the tenant. This was a huge relief to me. The tenant showed up at the hearing with a “disability” (in an effort to pay on the adjudicator’s sympathy presumably) but Tom was skillful in handling this. When the tenant was not gone by the eviction date, Loryn attended the Sheriff’s Office the very next morning to schedule the Sheriff to come out. The service provided by everyone at Sterling was awesome. They gave me excellent advice and even after the tenant was gone, they told me to take photographs of his unit in case he said that we had thrown out precious heirlooms or antiques belonging to him, which he certainly did not have but I wouldn’t put it past him to say. I’m very glad we hire Sterling Paralegal to help us with our tenant situation.

We hired Sterling to get our Real Estate deposit back from the Seller. On the date of closing we arrived in London, from the East Coast, with our 3 children and all of our furniture and belongings but the Seller was nowhere to be found. The deal fell apart when the Seller could not convey clear title to the property. Loryn used her 10 years’ experience and networking as former Realtor, to convince the Seller’s Realtor to reach out to him and sign the Mutual Release so that we could avoid having to sue. We were thrilled that Loryn wanted to avoid having to sue since all we wanted was our $5,000 deposit back. But the Seller refused to sign it. Then Loryn explained that since the Seller was forcing our hand, we may as well sue for our storage costs, temporary accommodations and other sunk costs that we incurred all because the Seller couldn’t close.Everyone was shocked when the Seller then counter-sued us! Although the facts of the case were relatively straight forward, the course of trial was anything but. The Seller, who was initially self-represented, failed to attend the 1st trial date, didn’t disclose documents he was order to provide, asked for subsequent trial date adjournments, and more! Finally the trial got underway, after the Seller hired a lawyer, and it lasted 1.5 days. Tom did the trial; watching him was like watching Harvey Spector from Suits!We won. The Judge dismissed the Seller’s counter-claim against us. In total, we were awarded $13,578 (all because the Seller refused to sign the Mutual Release for our $5,000 deposit). The total awarded to us included $8,503 in damages (our $5,000 deposit plus $3,503 in sunk costs) plus an additional $5,075 in court fees, travel costs and legal fees!!!The process of getting to trial, and attending the trial was stressful but Loryn was always available to reach out to. She also ensured that we had someone in Court to lean on – her mom! Hannah was such a great support to us. As was everyone on the Sterling team. We hope we are never involved in a lawsuit ever again but if we are, we’re going to hire Sterling!
