Don’t Survive Thrive Academy

I’ve been training at Dont Survive Thrive Academy for about a year and a half. I was in a situation where the teaching of Daniel Cobb really saved me. I’m a youth care worker and one of our youth had a psychotic episode at a hospital where he needed to be restrained. The youth was a little taller than and was strong. As the youth was fighting off the medical staff I was able to get the person to the ground safely, took their back and was able to control person till security arrived. Being just a white belt I was EASILY able to control the person and contain the situation. The techniques I used were the first techniques you would learn on your first day at beginners class. DST academy I highly recommend, the facility is clean, people and instructors are incredibly kind.

Signed up two months ago with my two boys. All three of us are loving it. Daniel the owner is fantastic and the instructors are great. The other students are all amazing people that are there to help you grow in your martial art journey. The studio is clean and inviting with a strong feeling of family. I highly recommend. 5 stars!

I met 2 people from the academy at the Manitoba Open tournament. They were so nice and told me to come check out the school anytime. I went yesterday for a lunch time roll and Aaron was super helpful, he showed me where to park, explained how everything works and showed me around. Daniel addressed me shortly as I got there and explained further where I am supposed to go and introduced himself. He is very down to earth.Everyone was super welcoming and introduced themselves and asked me to roll. I didn’t feel like an outsider. When rolling with some of the upper belts, they took the time to help me correct some of my mistakes which was super helpful. I also really like how clean the academy is, they have a sandal policy off the mat to keep things hygienic and I definitely appreciate that.Though this is not my main academy I will for sure be back!

I have been attending DST Academy for about 2 months now. I had zero martial arts training and didn't know what to expect. The head trainer Daniel, has developed the beginners classes to cater to both men and women of all ages and skill sets. There is a real emphasis on safety, while having fun, and learning new skills. There are multiple classes throughout the day making it convenient to fit into anyone’s schedule. Overall, it's been a great experience. Great trainers, great people and a ton of fun!

Always a warm and welcoming experience at this gym. The owner Daniel is a very excellent teacher who seems to truly care about his student's success. They offer many classes throughout the day, giving us no excuse not to show up! I also highly respect this gym because of it's inclusive values and principals. If you're interested in trying Jiu-Jitsu, I very much would recommend DST Academy.

Wonderful place, amazing people..: I am so happy to be back on the mats after 6 years and now at Don’t survive Thrive academy I feel that I’m in the right pathway to accomplish my goals. Also, my 3 years old daughter is so happy when coming to the little ninjas program she is always saying “ I wanna go Dojo” I’am very grateful to Daniel and his team for all the support. A great martial art school with good ethics filled with good vibes and people. The instructors are very knowledgeable and professional. Personally, I am super grateful and proud to be apart of this team because DST genuinely cares about each member and to many has become a second home. Thank you, Prof. Dan and staff for providing a space for me to grow, learn and develop not only physically and mentally strong but spiritually and emotionally stronger, too. This art and life skill truly has changed the way I live life, for the better.

Was meaning to get into BJJ for years just never pulled the trigger. With that said just recently I did, here at DST. Best decision I've made in a while as far as both mental and physical preparedness is concerned. Everyone from the instructors to other students are super friendly, coaching is clear and comprehensive and most importantly everyone is super friendly and approachable. If you are thinking about starting you should start here. Im loving it!

I was visiting family in Winnipeg and visited DST Academy with my 17 year old nephew who lives in town. I am a brown belt and I train in Virginia. The facility is clean and well equipped (big springy mat space, showers, locker rooms, water bottle filling station). The coaches are great and the atmopshere is friendly and welcoming. My nephew had no experiece and was impressed with the basics class. I was able to roll with all belt levels both Gi and NoGi. If I lived here I would train here full time.
