Train tends to be late. Waited 3 hours

Folks that work the RR are really nice, virtually everyone is bilingual. The train takes about 14 hrs to go one way (they say 12 hrs but don't count on it). Train cars are cleaned often but seat upholstery is really dirty. Locals bring a blanket to drape over the seats, it's that bad. Lots of spilled food and other stuff. Bring a cooler with food and drinks, the food on the train is really bad and often there is no water. You'll prob want a pillow and blanket also. The route is spectacular scenery the whole trip, especially if you've never been this far north and makes it worthwhile. It's also a great way to meet some Inuu people which was a really great experience for us. Not many places to stay in schefferville and they are very expensive, our room ended up $350 a night Canadian! Make arrangements and firm up the price before you buy the train tickets. Also you'll likely want a ride into town from the station in shefferville, there is a taxi. It's 1-2km walk to the hotel and since the train is always late it will be dark when you arrive.
