Signature Eye Specialists: Dr. Bill Chow, Dr. Yamina Fodil-Cherif

I was hesitant to go see Dr Chow for my eye problem. When I went to Signature Eye, the staff were all courteous. All the exams and testing were done in the office. It was busy but everybody was working like a clockwerk. I had surgery with DrChow and now I have 20/20 vision. Dr Chow will not hold your hand say flowery words, but direct,honest and accurate diagnosis and treatment is what you expect. I highly recommen this clinic and I want to thank the staff and docotors for providing efficient eye care.

Dr Chow is the worst surgeon. Very arrogant, sarcastic man rude he has no mannerisms at all. Just shouts at patient. I was there today and a ladies husband was running out his oxygen and the lady was fanatic to get the bottles to her husband and was trying find him in which consulting rooms was he in. The Manger lady was screaming and yelling at her and asked her to get out of the room. Very rude I was just shaking when I saw what was going on. I can't imagine how come Alberta health tolerate this kind of behavior and consider the clinic under the provincial health approved clinic. It's just crazy how these clinics are in existence. There license should be reworked. To practice. Cannot give one star.

I was referred to Dr. Chow by my family physician. My first thought after checking in was that the staff seem unhappy. There is no friendliness or staff camaraderie. The tech didn’t introduce herself or explain what was going to happen before each test. The shot of air into my eye was a shock. I was put in an exam room and sat in that uncomfortable chair waiting for Dr. Chow. No one came to let me know that he was behind, how much longer it would be etc. After 70 minutes Dr. Chow came in. He didn’t make eye contact with me or apologize of the wait. They obviously overbook their patients in that office. He left the room and I could then hear him berating a staff member because there were no eye drops in the cupboard. He examined my eyes gave me some drops and sent me on my way. I asked if I should come back for a follow up after he told me I had the start of cataracts. “Ummm oh maybe come back in a year.” I won’t be returning.C

Doctors and tech were fine but they are never on time. Always late always an excuse. The doctor will say I’ll see you next week for more tests and then when you go up to book with reception, it’s a month.But the real reason for this review for us is …..The receptionist on the right as you walk in is horrid! She is literally the rudest most unfriendly person we have dealt with in a clinic setting! Not just a one off either, every single time. The lady that sits on the left is very kind though, go to her if you have an option. Wait times are long in the clinic and waiting for follow up is months. If you get referred I would ask for another referral.

I wish I had read the reviews and asked my mom's doctor for another referral. The receptionist, Melanie, and the technicians were great but Dr. Chow's bedside manner was absolutely terrible. My mom is 89 and has dementia - he showed a complete lack of compassion and understanding for her and he was rude to me in several instances. No eye contact, no introduction, very abrupt and unfriendly. He did seem competent and knowledgeable but his manner cannot be excused.

The reviews for this place are accurate. I thought I'd give this place a chance since I was referred here, but I was wrong.Dr. Yamina Fodil-Cherif is just rude. I simply asked her to clarify her brief diagnosis and she just said I already told you." She was very patronizing.People come to you for help because they are concerned about their vision and respect your opinion. You act like you don't care and your patients are less in value than you.When I asked her about the prescription she provided

I have nothing but positive things to say about Signature Eye Clinic. From the initial contact person throughout all the tests to prepare for my surgery all was great. I was concerned about Dr Chow, from reviews, but he was very friendly to me and I’m a grouchy old man who doesn’t put up with much…..so thank you Bill!I had to cancel my first surgery at the last minute and I’m sure they were not pleased. Again it was handled very well by the clinic.My surgery is August 23rd so will comment about that procedure which I’m sure will be just as positive.August 23rd arrived and went with no surgery completed! Nobody’s fault really as when I went into the OR I was completely fine and felt no sedation was required. When they put me on the operating table and proceeded to cover my entire face with the surgical draping I had an immediate claustrophobic panic attack!! Rather than continuing Dr Chow canceled the surgery which, most likely, was the best thing.Everyone up to that point was wonderful from front office to nurses and Doctors.August 30th arrives for second surgery attempt. Again great people but this time I had a double dose of sedation…..surgery was no problem.August 31st follow up appointment was right on time and Dr Chow spent time with me and was a pleasure to speak with.Second eye completed in November and again very professionally along with following day when Dr Chow checked the results. We spoke for approximately 20 minutes about the eye plus life in general. I would recommend him absolutely and REMEMBER…. We all have days when dealing with the public and nobody can be perfect. It’s the outcome that matters when having eye surgery!

I was never called by name by this physician. The bedside manner is definitely is shortfall.

I don’t even think Dr.Chow deserve one star, he was extremely rude, and was constantly raising his voice at his patients. It was such an awful and uncomfortable experience. I went in with my father to get his eye procedure done, my father does not know English that well, and he needed my help, Dr. Chow told me to not be in the room for his procedure, which I understood but while I was waiting for my dad outside in the hall, I could hear Dr. Chow screaming at my dad for not understanding the direction, he repeated over and over again, louder and louder everytime. Even me in the hallway feel so uncomfortable and worry about my dad. I ended up standing in the hall trying to communicate to my dad about the directions.I thought as an Asian man in Canada, he would be helpful and show some understanding to immigrants or newcomers…it almost made me feel like he thinks because he is a doctor so he can just stump people down like that.Horrible! And will not recommend anyone go to see him.

I was extremely worried about visiting this clinic given all of the negative reviews. I kept waiting for some terrible interaction with a staff member, but nothing ever occurred. The front desk staff were friendly, the techs were efficient and friendly. Dr. Chow was very through, explained my diagnosis to me and booked me in for a surgical procedure the following week. Experience at the surgical clinic was great, everyone was friendly and welcoming. Nursing, anesthesia and surgical experience was great overall.
