Allwyn's Jamaican Restaurant (Oshawa)

Ordered large jerk chicken dinner bone in *(NO CHICKEN IN THE BOX)???and Goat dinner (salty not spicy) and a Patti hot (not hot but sweet?)Called over and over again... no answer no machine. WeirdEDIT ... Thanks for the offer (not back in town for a week) and sorry to use this process to mention this but no one answers the phone?

Very nice establishment, Customer service was great. As a Jamaican I can honestly say this is not authentic Jamaican food. The “Jerk” was baked in the oven. Jerk should be grilled…The jerk seasoning itself has way too much cinnamon & nutmeg, I didn’t get any pimento flavour which is one of the main ingredient in jerk. The patty was OK. My sandwich (Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork) was 4/10 i probably would not return but I am happy Allwyns is branching out. For the price point of the sandwich it was a good value

I think it’s more of a 3.5 star, but I rounded up. I’ve eaten here a couple times and it’s pretty good, certainly not the best jerk chicken I’ve had, but pretty good. It’s the best I’ve had in Oshawa though being as the other options aren’t great.I found the jerk chicken (bone-in) to be too dry when I got it. The large is a sizeable portion and a good deal. The jerk chicken sandwich was decent and the coco bread was tasty, though the jerk marinade had too much cinnamon in it. The patties are good, but I couldn’t tell the difference between mild and spicy. Overall, I have mixed feelings and was hoping Allwyn’s was going to be incredible after waiting in anticipation for them to open for so long.

My husband and I have been long time customers of Allwyn’s in Scarborough and we came here to grab dinner last night, trying this location in particular for the first time. We did take out - He got the jerk chicken sandwich and I got the stuffed sandwich, with a side of rice and peas w/ oxtail gravy. The sandwiches were really good, but they did not put any oxtail gravy on the rice and peas.The service unfortunately was not what we expected. The taller light skinned woman with glasses that was filling orders and handing them to customers was extremely short and unwelcoming. This encounter left a bad impression, which is very unfortunate considering we really like this establishment and it’s a newer location. Hopefully, next time it will be a better experience than the last for us.

Ordered the jerk pork and jerk chicken. Food was awesome and amazing. Service was excellent. Place is clean. Loved the atmosphere and decor. Good job Allwyn’s!

I ordered a large Curry goat which came with three sides. I chose coleslaw, pickled peppers and corn. I was impressed with the generous portion sizes. The take out containers, as well as the cutlery were sturdy and supportive which was appreciated . The goat was delicious, but the real show stopper was the rice!! Hands down best ever rice and peas I've ever had. So much flavor. I can't wait to try some of the other menu items.This restaurant is located in a small plaza with free public parking.

Super excited we finally have an Allwyns!! I will be back!

Food was very good- service was subpar but is expected because they are new- will come again as the jerk pork sandwich was very good- I liked how the bread is very fresh- my husband enjoyed his jerk chicken and patty- very fresh- small inside so I felt like it got easily crowded, cashier didn't ring in everything I had asked for but hopefully service gets betterEdit- why is the front staff so disorganized/ rude?? Like I've now come here 3 times.. the cashier chick always has an attitude.. never pleasant.. shame because the food is great.. service is lacking..I politely said I don't need a receipt, still proceeds to give it to me for some lame reason.. its so dead right now.. no I don't want to tip you.. gees

Extremely happy to have authentic Caribbean food in Oshawa. I’ve had the curry goat, jerk chicken, fried chicken and BBQ fried from here so far and I must say I am extremely happy to finally have authentic Caribbean food in Oshawa!!I tried the jerk chicken sandwich for the first time and it’s a 10/10. Staff is friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend this place to any and everyone that wants a taste of the Caribbean.
