Officially opened on December 4, 1980, Blackcomb is the fall-line alternative to Whistler. Blackcomb has the higher official peak (outside resort patrolled terrain) & a staggering 1609 meters of vertical, but overall less acreage than Whistler. It became a popular snowboarding mountain in the 90's with the terrain park, halfpipe, & all that fall-line terrain. Blackcomb also offers summer hiking & sightseeing in the alpine plus the Ascent Trails with optional download-only tickets. Access areas are via the Village (Excalibur gondola), Upper Village (Blackcomb gondola), & Base II (Excalibur gondola). It is connected" to Whistler Mountain at Whistler village base (bottom of the Excalibur gondola) & via the Peak to Peak gondola in the sub-alpine."

I took the Gondola to reach Blackcomb Mountain. After that I hiked on Ascent Trail, it starts from the base of Blackcomb Mountain and ends at the top next to the Rendezvous Lodge. The views are breathtaking!

Fantastic skiing and snowboarding for intermediate and up, not great for beginners, Whistler has more green runs.7th Heaven and Blackcomb Glacier are highlights. Climb Spanky’s ladder for incredible double black diamond terrain or hit the Saudan Couloir, fantastic!! Lift lines can get crazy in peak season like Christmas to mid Feb, better after US Presidents weekend.
