Port Elgin Main Beach
First time that I visited this beach. I came here on a Saturday in August. I arrived around 10am and there was still plenty of free parking available.I decided to set up my stuff a little further away from the main beach. The sand was white but there were some cigarette buds here and there.I wasn't sure about the rules regarding this beach as I could not find any online. I brought a small umbrella/tent, two chairs and a cooler. Nobody came by to bother me about the umbrella/tent. Around noon, more people started to come to the beach but it wasn't crazy busy. I didn't see anyone BBQing on the beach, so, I don't think this is allowed. The water was a bit chilly but was clear and had a little ting of green to it. I checked the water quality online and it read that it was okay to swim in. Lots of small kids in the water. It's pretty shallow, for about 4 meters in and then it starts to get deep.In terms of food, there is a cafe close to the main beach that serves a variety of food. I got the poutine which tasted great!Washrooms are on the main beach. They are very well maintained and lots of stalls.I saw a few picnic tables around the beach but they seem to be taken pretty quick.Overall, the beach is well maintained, had a peaceful atmosphere and the water is good to swim in. The one thing that I didn't like is that there is a weird smell around the beach area. It kind of smells like manure...similar to the smell that you get when you are driving to the beach and you pass some of the farms...it kind of smells like manure. The smell was strongest in the the morning and then disappeared in the late afternoon.

Port Elgin Main Beach
Clean, and fantastic for kids the water stays shallow for long stretches which also means it stays decently warm, until you get into the deeper sections. Lots of seagulls so keep your food covered!!!!!

Very beautiful beach. Clean water and no deep in front. Totally Sandy beach. A lot of parking @Saturday morning. First come first serve. Free parking. Washroom is near by with shower station outside with hot water. For family, with kids play ground, dry picnic was fun. Be clear... No BBQs allowed. Strongly recommended. By coming here, Easily avoid Sauble beach (croweded).

This is my 4th time at Main Beach, and I am never disappointed. We travel over 3 hours to get there, but it is well worth it. It is definitely one of the best beaches in Ontario. The beach is clean, parking is free, the facilities are well maintained, and the water is shallow, hence perfect for kids. There are four volleyball courts, kids' play area and gazebos. It's a perfect summer getaway spot.

Worth more than Sauble Beach. Quiet very less crowded and enjoyable. I would suggest arriving around 6 PM to dip in little cold water and then sit and relax.

Port Elgin Main Beach is a must-visit destination for beach lovers in Ontario. The expansive beach boasts pristine sand and clear blue waters that are perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The beach is well-maintained and has excellent amenities, including clean restrooms, showers, and changing facilities. There are also plenty of picnic tables and BBQ grills available, making it an ideal spot for a family day out. The beach can get quite busy, especially during peak season, but there's still plenty of room to relax and enjoy the scenery. Overall, I highly recommend Port Elgin Main Beach for anyone looking for a fun and memorable beach experience in Ontario.

I spent many summer vacations in Port Elgin and this year I brought my kids to the beach I have many childhood memories from.It is as beautiful there as I remember and surprisingly the beach was not super busy or overcrowded. The washroom facilities are very close by and are clean and convenient. You can lounge on the beach, walk the harbor or enjoy food from the concession, food/ice cream truck or the little harbor restaurant making it easy to spend an entire day there.
