We adopted our cat from this shelter and were very impressed with the facilities where they are kept when they are not on the adoption floor. It wasn't just a bunch of tiny cages and they told us the cats on the adoption floor are rotated through so they are never in the small cage for long. These volunteers truly care about the pets they are serving.

Had to surrender my mother's cat on her behalf. The staff was unpleasant, blunt and could of been more supportive as it was not an easy decision on her behalf. We called to follow up on how the cat was doing about 2-3 weeks later, we never got a phone call or email back.

We adopted our cat JT from C.A.R.E.S in 2014 and it was a great experience. We're so glad we went to a shelter when we were looking for a cat and the staff there were so helpful and responsive. JT is now 16 and we recommend this shelter to people all the time ♥️

I love CARES! We adopted two black kittens from them a few years back and the process was amazing. The kittens were well cared for, receiving all shots and neuters before adoption as well as special care for one who had been injured. We were given excellent instructions and coupons to get us started as pet parents, and the shelter checked in with us to make sure all was well after the adoption. The workers are so lovely and kind, if you want a new cat friend or two I can't recommend CARES enough!

Adopted our kitty after speaking with Allison at an adoption event, who was very kind and clearly cares about the cats. We got a quick call about a week later mentioning that his litter mate had developed something, and that should he show signs as well they would cover the cost of any medical care for that too (thankfully our boy was fine and didn't need any extra vet visits). Our new buddy is super friendly and very well socialized despite still being a baby. They keep great care of them and the adoption fee is totally worth all of the medical care the cats receive before leaving the center.

I sent them an email to make an appointment to visit, I was hoping to meet two of the cats, but I was also open to meeting any others who were good with other cats as I already have a cat. They never responded to my first email, so I sent them another six days later. Finally, Marian responds. She doesn't say any hello or anything, just: Shaw and Kenny are already adopted." I had said I would like to visit with other options

My experience at C.A.R.E.S was beyond horrible. I had contacted the establishment to adopt a bonded pair - and they approved me for a meeting at their HQ in Langley. I arrived prepared, ready to pay and complete the service, and take my cats home … and that’s when everything became VERY strange. While most of the staff was kind and helpful, some were not. They made it extremely difficult for me to adopt. Not only did the website have inaccurate information about their age, they also LIED about their gender. The website had said they were a boy and a girl … turns out they are both boys! None of that bothered me in the end, as I just wanted to bring my cats home to a safe and secure place.During my meeting, just as I was bonding with and starting to gain trust of two brothers … I WAS KICKED OUT.I was informed that another meeting was to take place - and I was no longer allowed to be with any of the cats, I had to leave. This was about 20 minutes of time before I was escorted out of the Adoption Shelter. It was a very uncomfortable and enraging experience.I requested (via e-mail) if I could come back to see the cats again and Marion - SAID NO. She told me to stay away, and gave me the indication that this adoption was NOT going to happen. It’s very clear that she did not like me as a person ... it became obvious very quickly. The next day, I went back anyway … because I really loved those cats. Luckily, I was greeted by a very kind staff member who informed me that she did not have the authority to facilitate the adoption for me. She genuinely wanted to help, but wasn’t allowed to.It is safe to say that C.A.R.E.S is a shelter that does not put the welfare of the animals first. The state of the shelter alone is something to be desired. The cats do have food and some broken toys to play with … but it could be better. They are kept in wireframe cages and probably don’t get much interaction with humans at all. It scares me that a place like this can exist in a “regulated” and approved system. I hope my cats are OK. I ended up going to a different shelter in the end - in Maple Ridge.

Fast adoption process. We went to the Langley Petsmart on Friday night and got approved on Saturday morning. The volunteers were very helpful and they know to match the cats with the right applicants. We highly recommend C.A.R.E.S. for people that are looking for cat adoption sites.

We adopted two cats 8 months ago but weren't told they were feral. We were also told, in writing, that we would get some assistance. After 8 months of trying to help these cats, and nobody would come as they said they would, in writing, we finally returned them and that's when one of the volunteers told us that they were not only feral, but had to be socialized in a separate place for 5 months before we ever saw them the first time. First, the volunteers were great but not empowered to help at all and as a result, gave us conflicting information. Second, we were told it wouldn't be a problem to take two different cats. In fact, the volunteers assured us we would have them by the next day. So imagine our surprise when we were told that because we had complained that CARES hadn't lived up to their written agreement, they would not let us have two different cats. I would never support them again as they don't live up to their own literature. It's hit or miss whether they like you or not. Too bad, as I had been thinking about volunteering here since they've got posts up looking for people.

I adopted my kitty here almost 3 years ago and still remember my experience with CARES very fondly. I appreciate the care that they take to ensure that all adoptable cats are placed in the right homes. Thank you CARES for everything you do & bringing my loving kitty into my life.
