It is a temporary exhibition of Chinese immigration and British Columbia now. They call it A Seat at the Table. The museum opens only on Fri/Sat/Sun from 10am to 4 pm. I am sure you can see something interesting there, BUT not much. How about showing more exhibits of the life from the early Chinese immigrants? May be a small souvenir shop will help too.

The first museum of its kind in Canada, the Chinese Canadian Museum of British Columbia celebrated its grand opening on July 1st 2023. The opening exhibition entitled “The Paper Trail” captures the struggles and resilience of Chinese Canadians and marked the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Immigration (aka Exclusion) Act of 1923. The Act prohibited the entry of Chinese people into Canada and was repealed in 1947. The museum is located in the Wing Sang building which is one of the oldest buildings in Vancouver’s Chinatown.

Not a boring museum. Things to read & watch were short, yet informative. And The exhibits were interactive. It was especially interesting to learn about the comradery between Chinese & Indigenous communities.

Perfectly situated in the heart of Chinatown on Pender street. Very well done in highlighting the history of Chinatown and how Chinese immigrants and Canadians played such a big role in shaping Chinatown and the surrounding areas in its hey days. There are themed interactive boards, videos and VR. It's a great learning experience. Admission is free and a excellent way to spend the afternoon. Lots of good food close by as well.

This museum has expanded quite a bit since I visited a couple years ago.The exhibit I saw back then made use of modern technology (TVs, audio, VR headset, etc.) to share stories of a vibrant past.Recently, they have featured The Paper Trail to the 1923 Chinese Exclusion Act" Exhibit which tells the story of the Canadian government's discriminatory tracking of the Chinese Canadian people. I saw several familiar faces in these photos including my great grandfather

I loved to be able to show this place to a friend who visited from the US. The place and people working there are very informative and it is a great opportunity to understand the chinese community living in Vancouver. A great eye opener on how positively chinese have worked hard, to make an impact in Vancouver and the Canadian economy, even up to this day. You get a self guided tour and can make your own immigration mark on the provided map in the museum. Visiting this museum will chang people's view of the life in Chinatown. Bring an open mind it be worth it.

I was fortunate enough to visit the Chinese Canadian Museum in their new permanent home at the Wing Sang Building in Vancouver's Chinatown, during their opening weekend. I learned so much and was so engrossed with The Paper Trail Exhibit, and left the Museum completely obsessed with The 1923 Immigration Act; wondering why I never learned about it in Social Studies class during high school. The emotions that I felt walking through the museum were strong and makes me feel so proud as a Chinese Canadian born in Vancouver, that our city and society has come to far.
