Have been a loyal customer for years, although it has recently come up that PetSmart throws away their fish and other exotic animals when they’re not sold. Throw away as in toss live animals in the dumpster. Will no longer be shopping here - would’ve been a lifelong customer if the brand didn’t abuse animals as much as they did for decades. I simply cannot give my money to an organization that is cruel to pets but is marketed as a caring place for animals.Wondering how you’ll address this?

I buy different things for my cat. Food variety is good.I like it. Staff are always friendly. The only improvement can be the variety of pet toys and accessories.

This store is fantastic! The staff always go out of their way to help me, especially when I have Bianca (25yo Cockatoo) with me to pick up treats and tour the aisles. Pretty sure they just know me as Biancas mom" but I appreciate all their hard work and how well they attend to a store full of customers with various pets. Highly recommend this location!"

I absolutely love this location, staff are all very respectful. Every time I need help with food, toys, leashes for my dog Laney this one employee named Sofia is very helpful and knowledgeable regarding stuff about dogs! She’s always working when I come and is very kind to my dog and myself and other customers!

Horrible experience! I got 4 bags of pure bites treat from them, my cat went into emergency and has been vomit for 4 days. And they told me it is not their responsibility and ask me to contact pure bite by myself! Guys if you want your pet to be safe, do not go there anymore.

This is a review in terms of grooming. My dog has been groomed at this PetSmart for years. At some point during Covid lockdowns, the entire grooming staff had quit, as relayed to me by new staff. They had no staff for over half a year. The previous staff were all really good and familiar with my dog.Ignoring that fact and rating the new staff on a blank slate would only be fair. The new staff do not work well with my dog. They fail to keep me on record and make me add my phone number to file every time I sign up for grooming. My dog does not receive haircuts as a short coated dog. Just bath and nails. I’ve never tipped as I’ve been charged around $70+ every time I come and I’ve been urged to hurry back to the store everytime I leave. Previous prices were less but they do not permit me to come in for just nails and a nail grind anymore since the change. They’ve made it so I cannot book online anymore and instead have to call in because my dog is anxious, although never aggressive. As someone who works in an animal shelter and has to work around a revolving door of unfamiliar dogs, I understand hesitancy to work on dogs who may be anxious but at no point has he had an incident in his 9 years of being my pet. He is a senior dog with separation anxiety and they’ve made it an increasingly stressful experience for myself and my dog every time I come by as I have to be nearby to pick him up at a moments notice as they refuse to work with him.In my most recent visit, they’ve tacked on two separate $20 charges for him being difficult to work with onto my receipt. I ended up paying over $120 for a bath and brush, and I waited in the parking lot to pick up my dog.I can safely say I can no longer return, I’ve taken it upon myself to cut his own nails, and install a hair catcher in my drain to bathe him at home now.

Changed my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. I was constantly having problems finding my dogs brand and type of food. I spoke to a stock manager, and it seems the problem is now fixed. My dogs specialty diet type food is now always available!!

I am absolutely horrified by the grooming experience my morkie, Cleo, received at this store. I am writing this rather lengthy review in hopes that this type of abuse will never happen again. Please read to the end, view the pictures and warn other pet owners! On June 16, 2021, Cleo had a grooming appointment at the Petsmart store at Leslie and Elgin Mills with groomer, Jessica H. When I picked her up that afternoon, I was almost in tears. Cleo was obviously terrified. There were serious ligature marks around her neck.It breaks my heart to think of my Cleo being restrained and struggling against the choke collar. She was so terrified that she lost control of her bowels. (The groomer, Jessica, told me that Cleo urinated and defacated on the table.) Poor Cleo must have been choking and squealing and suffering all while Jessica continued with her grooming. Horrifying!I cannot believe that a “trained”, ”certified” groomer would treat a dog this way. I cannot believe that the other groomers in the room stood by and let this go on. I cannot believe that no one bothered to call me to address Cleo’s state, but I did receive a call to ask how I wanted her tail cut?! It’s absurd.Apparently the grooming area has surveillance. I requested to see the video of Cleo’s appointment. I was told that this was against Petsmart’s privacy policy. I pointed out that Petsmart recorded me without my knowledge or consent. Consequently, I was told a special request could be made, but only if I forwarded the vet’s notes. Interesting…Petsmart did not feel Cleo needed to see a vet. Now, providing the vet’s notes is a condition of seeing Cleo’s grooming video. These are Petsmart policies, taken directly from the grooming salon FAQs on the Petsmart website:Can I stay and watch my pet being groomed?Yes, our Grooming Salons have a viewing area for you to comfortably watch your dog or cat getting groomed.- Then why can’t I watch Cleo’s grooming tape? If Petsmart claims transparency, then let me see the video. Will my pet be sedated? We never sedate pets, nor do we accept pets who have been sedated. If your dog or cat has been known to have a strong behavioral reaction to grooming or bathing, please advise us when making the appointment and when dropping off. If a pet is truly uncooperative or made uncomfortable by the process, we might end the session – but we will never sedate your pet.- Then then why did the groomer suggest I sedate Cleo for her next grooming appointment?- If Cleo was truly uncooperative, then why was the session not ended? How much training do grooming salon associates receive? We ensure that each professional pet stylist is qualified to care for your pet. Academy-trained stylists complete over 800 hours of hands-on instruction and safety certification, working with at least 200 dogs of all breeds and sizes. Because we pride ourselves on having the highest safety standards in the industry, PetSmart requires every salon associate to be safety certified annually.- Then why will Petsmart not produce the groomer’s certifications? Any other industry posts it’s certifications publicly. In addition:- Why did none of the other groomers stop Jessica and come to the aid of my dog?- Why did the groomer administer salve to my dog’s wounds without contacting me first? Is she trained in veterinary medicine?- Why did the manager give me a topical cream to put on Cleo’s wounds, but not suggest I take Cleo to a vet?No matter how “wiggly or nervous” (direct quote from the Petsmart representative) Cleo was at the time, the groomer should never have continued with the appointment. That being said, Cleo is 2 1/2. She has been groomed numerous times; at the same Petsmart location no less. Petsmart… Please don’t blame a helpless dog for the abuse she received at the hands of one of your employees. Take responsibility, be transparent and act with integrity.Petsmart claims, “We love pets.”Really?!I don’t think so.Disgusted,Maria Park,Dog loverCleo, Jax, Tank and Peanut’s mom
