Michelle and I had an opportunity to go to Black Rabbit last week for the Moncton Eats event. Although the conversation and company were amazing as per usual, I was not as impressed by the restaurant. When a restaurant has been nominated for the Air Canada list of new Canadian restaurants, there is a certain bar that needs to be achieved. I have been to many of these restaurants across Canada and they take dining to a new level. My first disappointment was the fact that the cocktail menu consisted of only two options, and one was not available. When I asked if they were able to create something whiskey-based, I was told no. I elected to take the suggestion of a melon drink, and although the flavour was refreshing, it was most definitely a summer drink. The wine was good as would be expected and as traditional in a lot of local higher-end restaurants. The next disappointment was that there was only one vegetarian dish on the menu, and it was a plate of $20 carrots served cold. Despite this, the server suggested that the kitchen could possibly make something off their upcoming vegan menu. Thankfully, there was a beet ravioli dish that served the purpose. My short rib dish was very good — fell off the bone, rich in flavour, and no gristle. Whereas my short rib was served warm, the ravioli were served less than warm. We elected to go for a pint instead of trying the dessert. There is a possibility that we chose a night where the organization wasn’t where it needed to be with a menu transition and a new vegan menu being prepared. However, if a restaurant is going to have a transitioning menu, that means there cannot be a “down” night. The cocktail menu also needs to be seasonal and have somewhat varied options for people who want something more than an old fashion.

Experience was excellent, server was very knowledgeable and very entertaining. Food was excellent maybe 2 plates were a bit to salty(did mention to the one of the waiter at the end of the evening). Music...rap / hip-hop not really the music i would play but overall very good. Expensive but good

Friendly service. Uniquely presented dishes. I experienced a 'taster's menu' style. Rich flavours and creative presentation. Problem is the portions. Pure robbery. Way too small. Had a 5 course service believe it or not and about an hour after I left I was having a small pizza at some pub. Too bad.

We had the 14 course tasting meal & wine pairing and it was an outstanding experience. Truly delicious and so memorable. Excellent service and attention to detail. Will definitely return!

Some of the food was great but we couldn't eat two of the courses, one was way too salty to enjoy. The other was a piece of halibut served raw for my wife and cooked for me, we had to return the raw one and got offered a cocktail. For the price we paid for two (~450$), these mistakes are simply unexcusable.

The 7 course tasting menu does not disappoint. It's seasonal and delicious. Enjoy it with the wine pairing option and it evolves into an entirely different level experience. At every point in the visit the staff is friendly and attentive and the sommelier Alfred is an absolute fountain of information. This is our second time dining at Black Rabbit and I have to say their food is hands down some of the best and most creative you'll see east of Montreal.

A truly amazing evening full of culinary amazement and delight. There was a lovely atmosphere here, which I would describe as laid back but dynamic. A nice soundtrack was playing, not the elevator music bore one might expect and the host was concise yet knowledgeable and passionate. It was a little dark but that just added to the intimacy. All the dishes were perfectly balanced and paired with a lovely diverse selection of wines. There is only one dish out of the entire course that wasn't paired as well, but still managed to create interest. Having certain intolerances, they catered to my needs perfectly, swapping ingredients while maintaining that perfect balance of color, textures and flavors. It was extremely pleasing to see that I didn't inconvenience them, but rather challenged them to come up with alternatives that, I could easily tell, they were passionate about. They really care about the food. They also care about where the food comes from, you can expect a wide variety of some of the best local products! So as far as taste and texture balance, color and presentation, and the amount of consideration that went into every dish, I can say without a doubt that this is by far the best dining experience in the region. It does not only compete with local fine dining restaurants but far beyond. An easy five star here. Anyone would benefit greatly from dining here at least once. This will easily become a favourite of ours.

What can I say! This was such a treat and great experience. A friend of mine told me about this place when I arrived in Moncton a year ago. Hadn't had the chance to go until this past weekend when he and his wife thought I was overdue. Good things come to those who wait, right? Well it was worth the wait. Actually wish I had gone sooner. We experienced their ten course meal. We decided to go with the wine pairing as well. Everything was phenomenal! The staff was very knowledgeable. They explained every course and the wine. Was nice that it wasn't just the server who came to us. We also had the Maître D and Chef come by and help with making this experience one to remember. I also really enjoyed the decor. Was pleasantly surprised considering its in a building with other businesses. If you're looking to wow a loved one, friend, business associates or just yourself, the Black Rabbit is the place to be!
