This place was amazing!!! Portion size and quality was great compared to price I paid. I would like to return here to try out different rolls as the items ordered today were delicious.I saw everyone ordering the yam tempura so I ordered it myself and I highly recommend it!The soft shell crab was different than I imagined, it was a whole crab and presented nicely. Also had ramen, broth was fantastic! The salmon was well cut and tasted delicious. The simple rolls were well sized, but the special rolls were larger in size, if you like the larger rolls.I really like the atmosphere here and it's a great location to walk around after a big meal. Highly recommend to sushi and non sushi lovers as there is a good variety of options!

Worst service ever. They let you stand there, with no regard for fist come first serve, taking other patrons in front of you, and then I request extra Wasabi, I get a chuckle from the waitress, and then my take put order comes w the normal amount, if not less. I'll never order from this trash place, again.

I recently visited Yonichi Japanese restaurant for a sushi roll combo, and I have mixed feelings about my experience. Let's break it down.Ambience/Atmosphere:The store environment had a great ambiance with pleasant music playing in the background. However, I couldn't help but feel a bit off due to the emptiness of the restaurant. As the only customer at the time, I felt somewhat watched by the staff, which made the initial moments uncomfortable. Nevertheless, I believe that ambiance is not the most crucial factor in a restaurant, as the food should take center stage.Service Quality:The service quality at Yonichi was disappointing. While the server attempted to be friendly, they struggled to assist me in making a selection and had difficulty communicating effectively. This hindered my overall experience as I found it challenging to convey my preferences. Additionally, the server recommended the sushi roll combo, which, unfortunately, did not meet my expectations. Furthermore, the service was overly quick, leaving me unable to savor my tea or miso soup, which was rather dissatisfying.Variety and Quality of Menu Items:The sushi roll combo at Yonichi offered average quality at best. The assortment comprised basic sushi rolls, lacking in flavor and excitement, except for the California roll, which constituted only a third of the 20 rolls provided. Furthermore, the seaweed wrapping around the tuna and rice seemed different from the rest, giving the dish a disjointed feel. However, I must commend the chef for the impeccable presentation. In a remarkably short amount of time, the chef skillfully garnished the dish with small pieces of leaves, creating a visually appealing arrangement.Price Range and Value for Money:Unfortunately, the value for money at Yonichi Japanese restaurant is horrendously poor. Charging approximately 1 CAD per small piece of sushi is unreasonable considering that the quality does not surpass what can be found at other sushi restaurants. Given my experience, the pricing seems unjustified. The food was also not filling leaving me hungry after spending 20 dollars on a meal.Overall, my visit to Yonichi Japanese restaurant left me underwhelmed. The lackluster service, average quality menu items, and poor value for money overshadowed the visually pleasing presentation. I hope that the restaurant can address these aspects and improve the overall dining experience for future patrons.

Located close to Lonsdale Quay, offeing good variety of yummy sushi rolls and sashimi. The downside was that their classic rolls was not very good but the special ones were great. Our favourite one was Angry Jalapeño roll.Try their Salomon sashimi nachos as well as their sushi pizza. The pizza is a very interesting concept as they use 4 deep fried California rolls as pizza dough with Salomon and tuna as toppings.

A really good Japanese restaurant. They all look Japanese to me so that's worth trying at least. The price is nice and the environment is decent too. However, if you're a big eater, you're probably gonna add to the bill. All in all, a good choice of you're in the area for Japanese food.Just a heads up: The fried oysters are quite small. The tempura sauce for the Nebeyaki is in the soup (traditional style we were told). The rice tasted fresh too!

I have been enjoying sushi for the better part of 25 years and Yohachi did not disappoint. In fact, it was the BEST sushi my girlfriend and I have ever had! The service was great too. We sat on the cute patio on a hot summer day and had lunch. I would highly recommend eating here!

Always a favorite for a decent and enjoyable experience. The food is a well rounded experience with multiple price points and sizes to suit everyone from large eaters to small pickers. Food ranges from hot food to cold sashimi delights, with even sukiyaki avaliable.Come for the modern, cost environment with excellent service, stay for the well price and delicious food.

After attending several restaurants in Canada, between Calgary and Vancouver, we we’re so surprised with this Japanese restaurant. At the water everything was crowded and here it was very quite. We went in and we’re greeted very friendly and found out there were a lot of vegetarian options. We got water immediately and started with a spinach-salad that was very tasteful. I had the bento box with chicken and Kara-age and my wife had the Vegi-sushi-combo. Both were delicious. Everything was full of flavor and the plates looked very pretty. Our waiter made sure we had everything we needed.By the end of it our stomachs were full and we only had to pay $60,-. Haven’t seen this service and this level of food for that amount of money in Canada yet. Oh the interior looks amazing too and they had the Japanese version of ‘Country Roads’ playing. Loved it and would highly recommend!

There are plenty of sushi places on the shore, so I will explain what seperates this one from the others:The service here was prompt and professional, our server Brad made sure all of our needs and wants were attended to quickly. The yam tempura roll here was proper crispy, unlike other places. Our edamame appetizer arrived still hot, the way it should be.The salmon sashimi we had was proper cold and portioned nicely. The entire restaurant seems very well maintained. We will definitely choose this place again over others in the area for these reasons. Great sushi for its price point. This restaurant has been here for years and for a good reason. A hidden gem amongst the numerous sushi restaurants in the area.
