The staff members actually care about the students, they never belittle students and if so it's in a sarcastic manner, or they said something they shouldn't have orthey're just a bad student. The teachers seem to be more connected with the students and students seem to be more open about any problems they're having. Some teachers are more strict than others and hand out detentions more. Field trips (outside of 2020) were farely often and really fun. We do use laptops but thankfully if the parents can't afford to get there child a laptop the school will supply the child with one for the year. Scott Creek is an all around great school. The principal and vice principal are great, the teachers and other staff members are great and iris (the P.A.D.S dog that the principal brings around with her) is great. We also have a very corny joke every day at the end of the morning announcments

A lot of the older reviews say that it’s a bad school, but the teachers here are pretty decent and not all bad. A few are a little harsh and I saw one break down crying, but luckily they are a TOC. The students throughout my community are all close-knit and pretty friendly with each other. I haven’t seen any bullying so far, and I’ve been here a while.

this school is ok a lot of the homeroom teacher are nice some other are really strict. the expo teacher are nice too but one i really don't like its the music teacher she always gets mad over the small thing like if you don't hit the right chord the first time or when you get a question wrong you didn't know and haven't been taught. she threatened me when i corrected her on something and lashed out on me and called my teacher who was really confused because i had never done anything bad in their class, she called me super rude and told me that i should never talk back even though i didn't, she also when i was breaking down crying said that i should grow up and that i needed to wash my face. my mom later emailed the school and the school forced her to apologize, she then said i love my job and i love working with kids and i love teaching kids music 3x" and never actually said sorry."

Ok so, I have lots of mixed feelings about this school. Scott creek is definitely lacking academic wise. The reason for this is because everything I learned here has already been reviewed in elementary school. This provided no sense of challenge towards my education and I wasn’t really able to gain much. However, I made lots of great friends here and I think I met the right people. However, some of the teachers can be a bit mean, and there are definitely a few to look out for. My mental health also collapsed here and I am still in the process of fighting through. Despite all this my final conclusion is that Scott creek is a school that is subpar at most and won’t choose this school if I got the chance. I recently got accepted into a really nice private school so I’m really happy about that.

This school is a gong show. No one cares about the kids or their education. Doesn't matter what the problem is, they are there to collect a paycheque. Some kids have developed mental health issues from attending here. Its not even the bullying, its also some of the poor attitude with the staff they have to face everyday. They will belittle the kid right in front of the class using harsh words...some kids will mouth off back or lash out (and good for them) and then give them detention...the thing that makes me sick, they dont even call home to inform you of what is going on, esp when it happens on a regular basis. Ive emailed teachers only to get a response back months down the road, I could go on and on. If you are serious about your childs education and mental health, sure as heck don't pick this school! Id give them zero stars if I could.

Parent review : My older son is now at Gleneagle Secondary and I have a daughter currently at Scott Creek Middle. Over the years much of our experience has been a frustrating one to say the least. In my sons first year, I found out he had left the school and travelled by bus for the first time ever to Maple Ridge. When I confronted the school about it they told me his uncle called the office to have him released. This was a SERIOUS safety breech. First, uncle was not on the list of approved adults to release my son to. Second, uncle was 3 years older than my son. Yup, they allowed a 15 year old to check him out without any verification. The school parking lot is a gong show. Pickup and drop offs are so stressful and the adults monitoring at the front are more preoccupied with their own conversation to actually navigate and direct traffic. There is no rhyme or rhythm to what’s happening in the pickup/drop off lineup. It might take over 8 minutes to enter the lot and make your way out even with your child standing there ready to hop in. Scott Creek, maybe consider student volunteers as crossing guards. We did it at my elementary school in Vancouver.I received a last minute appointment for my daughter, I called the school and asked that they notify her and have her walk home. 45 minutes later my daughter still wasn’t home. When I called back the secretary told me she “forgot”. The appointment was virtual, I had to rush to the school and make it home in 10 minutes for the appointment. When I spoke to Mrs Rinke (principal) she was nonchalant and said “well there’s nothing we can do about it”. Super dismissive.Mrs Rinke, in late 2022 sent our letters enforcing the schools dress code. Your usual “respectful language” and don’t “represent drugs or drug paraphernalia” were on there. One week later my daughter reported an uncomfortable exchange with Mrs Rinke where she was asked to turn around, from a distance, the principal thought she was wearing a crop top. My daughter told me the principal had been enforcing a no belly button policy which was not covered in the original letter. Subsequent to that, an email was sent by Mrs Rinke who titled the section “Dress for Success” stating “ Underwear is not intended to be your outer outfit; that's why it's called underwear” - Direct quote. Well surely nobody is attending school in their bra and panties and this passive aggressive tone did not go unnoticed. Lisa Rinke is clearly projecting her personal opinions and dress code onto her students that district 43 doesn’t object to. You’re an educator Mrs Rinke, not these children’s parents. Your personal opinion does not belong in our schools. What the school is unaware of are the mass chats from students on Snapchat and Instagram shaming Mrs Rinke for sexualizing young girls and implementing targeted dress codes against female students. I’ve seen the chats myself and support the students rights to vent, advocate, and share in stories where they felt personally targeted. My child will continue to wear crop tops if she wishes.I have a 5 year old in private education currently. I do not intend to send him here.
