The Alexandra Hotel

Lived here for six months before being housed by Streets to Homes. This hotels bottom 5 floors are dedicated to getting homeless off the street. The top floor is for paying guest's. If you want downtown west this is the place.

Not the best place if you you can afford better.

If i could make it a -1 , i would. Ive booked here twice before and ive never had any issues with the staff. On sunday night ( July 24th) this extremely rude lady was working at reception. So, prior to booking , i was never told that I wasn’t allowed any guests, so when i arrived with my guest she rudely told me I couldn’t have him visit. I didnt plan to have him stay overnight but she still denied him. The past few times ive booked, i’ve never had an issue with having guests. The lady was miserable and rude. She could have explained these “ new rules” in a kinder manner. The women that work here seem to be very rude, the men seem to be very kind. ( I don’t mean this in a sexist way, but its very true in this case). The carpets are also filthy and left black marks on the bottoms of my feet. There were homeless people sleeping outside of the hotel which made my friend and I very uncomfortable. The only good thing is having two small stoves to cook on, a pot and pan to cook on but thats about it. If you need somewhere urgent to stay and be downtown area without paying an arm and a leg , sure. Other than that, nope. I would never stay here again.

This is definitely an older hotel so don't go in with a 3 or 4 star attitude. What it lacks in modern amenities it makes up for with cleanliness and attitude. Clara at the front desk was wonderful. The proximity to Toronto Western is fantastic. Kensington Market is close by. We were here for a hospital visit. I would def stay again.

$140 for one night at a homeless shelter/hotel. The room we got was clearly cleaned half fast, sheets smelled. Water is foggy, bathed then woke up feeling sick in the middle of the night, in the morning both of us were feeling sick but it was ignored. There’s possibly bedbugs - bit by something; bag and wash all clothes when leaving. Shelter residents smoke outside all night, are given free meals with many having substance and other issues. Years ago this was a good hotel, it’s not a hotel now it’s a homeless shelter. Overpriced and until arriving it seems like a hotel, staff made no attempt to refund any portion of our 14 hour stay as we rushed out after arriving late. Intended to stay after seeing how the first night went, glad we left though we didn’t get what we paid for.

A/C isn't sufficient to cool the room down enough. The sound on the TV stopped working for what seemed like no reason. The mattresses were not that comfortable. Other than that, I would say the hotel was nice.

For a 2 star hôtel, it was really good, sept well, beds were comfortable
