Island Afrikan Supermarket

A small African treasure store that has literally everything to remind you of your African home. I recently bought Zomi (palm but oil) which is a favorite for making some sauces from my father's hometown in the Volta region of Ghana. It reminded me of coming with my grandma❤️❤️

Thank you for opening up an African Market on the island. The location is perfect! The owner Mary is such an amazing and friendly soul. She has really created such a genuine feeling and is very helpful. There’s so much selection! It’s a one stop shop. If you like to get your hair done they have all your hair/ hair care needs. It's great to have this store here in Victoria. Thanks for making available the great variety of African foodstuff in your store. I'm also enjoying the hair products I bought (Cantu conditioner, Shine & Jam and all the cute stuff that adorn my girls' hair). I'll definitely be a regular customer here.

I bought a shirt here for the birthday of a friend of mine who is an immigrant from Haiti and is very proud of his African roots. The lady at the store was helpful in choosing out a beautiful handmade shirt from Nigeria. I am very impressed by the excellent clothing in this store and will soon be coming back to buy stuff for myself as well as other people.

The woman behind the counter made me feel like I was annoying her, she didn't want to serve me, was far too busy on a personal and private phone call instead of being there to serve potential customers.I was very interested in a scarf that I saw in the window on a mannequin. I wanted to know how much it cost.She finally acknowledged my presence when she realized I wasn't just going to walk out without getting the information I walked in to get.She was rude and abrupt. Do not expect service with a smile or service, period. I will go back to get the scarf I want ~ only because it is beautiful and unique ~ otherwise I will not bother to stop in again.Nor will I recommend anyone else shop there unless you enjoy being seen as an irritation. I would hope not all the staff is this way, or I predict this company will not last very long with employees who have that kind of attitude.And unless you're the owner, save your personal calls for your personal time! Especially ones that involve giving advice to your friend.Get off the phone, greet your customer with a smile rather than a dirty look or smirk, do your job! You're in customer service, learn what that means or get a different job.

Wonderful location, easily accessible and great prices. Mary the store owner was very friendly and knowledgeable she offers a very wide variety from hair care to food. Everything is also very high quality. Thank you for opening this fabulous store !!

Good variety of African products and wigs. The customer service is good, and also it is possible to find original African clothes and textiles, there are African hair and skin products as well. Overall, it's a nice place

I have been going to this store since it was located in langford. I used to love it but I will be ordering my hair online from now on. I live about 2 hrs away and I called for two days ( apparently the phone was off the hook)... to see if they had the hair I wanted in stock. When I did finally get ahold of the new owner... I sent her pictures and she told me it was in stock. Obviously she didn't bother to check because when I arrived she told me it wasn't available- and It was too late to cancel my appointment...so I ended up purchasing something I'm really unhappy with. I should have just taken the cancelation feeNot impressed and won't be recommending anyone else shops here in the future.

I got this (expensive) tuber of yam from the store and was really looking forward to dinner. I got home and that was the state of the yam in the picture.I called the following day to see how they could make up for such a massive flaw and they flat out said there is no refund/compensation of any kind smh. Mexican house of spice would never do such to customers, I was just trying to patronize but I know better now…
