Dr. Gonik worked a miracle for my son. We were dealing with ear infection after ear infection as well as sleep breathing issues. My frustration started to show but Dr. Gonik was patient with me and I appreciated him understanding my concerns and frustration. After 2 sleep studies, several test and 3 surgeries we are on the path to healthy ears and a corrected breathing airway. During our last visit Dr. Gonik was elated to hear my son was doing better...and he even held him in his arms. Thank you, thank you, thank you! My angel on earth :)

I can't say enough about Dr Gonik and the care he provided for my son. He treated us as family and never made me feel like any of my questions were a bother to him, no matter how silly they may have been. I was very confident my baby boy was in good hands and was actually able to have a sense of peace during his surgery. Dr Gonik is one of a kind!!

The support staff are terrible. They did not tell me that htey had not received my doctor's referral until I was already en route. I have always believed that CHM offers the best care for children in the region, and drive in to the City to receive care there. Upon arriving, my doctor sat on the phone with them for 45 minutes because they were asking for the wrong type of referral information. Then, I asked when I would be seen, because my appointment time had passed 20 minutes prior. The very rude and aggressive scheduling manager told me I'd be seen at the end of the day and it was my own fault for not handling the referrals myself. There is no way a patient can know diagnostic codes or any of the information needed to handle this. Especially considering the actual staff were unable to give the correct information to my pediatrician. So, I sat there for 3 hours until they would see me. She told me if I didn't like it I could leave and reschedule. I had been told very frightening information about my daughter's health, and obviously would not leave. I watched in the waiting room as that woman, Cindy, was rude and aggressive with every patient she encountered. She spoke down to them like they were beneath her and not worth of any sort of care or respect. She then told Dr Gonik that the reason I waited so long was because my pediatrician refused to do the referral because they hadn't seen my baby yet, since she was just discharged from NICU. She had been discharged 8 weeks and had been seen twice at the time of this appointment. The misinformation provided as excuse does not even make sense and is not plausible. And then, to attempt to blame another professional for your error is especially frustrating. Perhaps coincidentally, perhaps not, Cindy then scheduled my next appointment for when the doctor was on vacation in China. His schedule was blocked off, but then apparently not. I received a phone call on Friday afternoon before my appointment, and was not able to return the call business hours Monday. I, of course travelling in from the suburbs, was already en route when I was able to return this call to learn that I was not going to have an appointment.Dr Gonik's staff are apathetic and incompetent, at least in my opinion after our interactions. I couldn't say for sure whether or not the doctor is good because our care was so disrupted by the staff that I could not say for sure. We are moving our care to another health system. I am actually moving the care for my 3 children who all have special needs to another system. It would seem that CHM has gone too far downhill since Tenet has taken over. Stay away, learn from my mistakes.

Not very happy with Dr. Gonik! I recommend a second opinion for sure. And he’s not very good with dealing with children unfortunately, working out of children’s hospital. We’ve seen him several times and he still has no answer for me about my sons ear issues.SAD
