The Perky Loaf
My father has been stopping in Windsor for a piece of coconut cream pie, for years and years, every time he travels from Halifax to the valley. This year for fathers day I asked Michelle at the Loaf to make him one and he was blown away and admitted that it was even better than his usual spot. He's not an easy man to please when it comes to baked goods, and so this was no small testament to Michelle's baking, (although it came as no surprise). 10/10.

We had breakfast on their second day of business. Friendly and efficient waitstaff. Huge cups of coffee, great portion sizes of delicious food for a reasonable price. And a bottle of local maple syrup on the table!! We will definitely be back to try more of the menu options.

So...it is more of a restaurant and I went in for the bakery. The rack of baked goods is amongst tables so it's awkward. The breads and such are not labelled so you don't know what everything is, nor how much it costs. I bought four cinnamon buns for $9 and was not impressed. They were dry and dense and I threw them out. We also tried the buttertarts. They need to be on a tray because six in bag meant they were broken by the time we got home. The flavour pretty good but not amazing. Customer service was ok.

Rating 4.5I dropped by for a late breakfast. The coffee was excellent and a huge cup!I chose an egg dish [the name of it has slipped my mind]. The egg was sitting on a homemade waffle and covered with delicious hollandaise sauce. It included homemade pan-fried potatoes with onions. I would have preferred the potatoes to have been cut up smaller and the onion diced. I would have also liked them crispier. Overall it was a good meal and I will return. The bakery products available look delicious, too.Lots of parking.

While driving back to Middleton area from Annapolis Royal, we found this place in Google Maps. Their menu included some healthy fare, which we were looking for. They also make their own baked goods. (Breads, loaf cakes, cookies, etc). The co-owner/operator was very nice. The place is clean and has a couple of 4-seat tables and a counter with stools along the window. The washroom was also clean. We had a grilled vegetable wrap with garden salad & the quinoa, beet, goat cheese salad. They were made to order and were very good. Google maps showed the location as being on the south side of the road, instead of north, and a little further west of the actual location.
