Seen his ad on kijiji decided to take my perfectly running engine and go with vortec heads for that 40 extra hp. I should have ran away when he told me his 982 spring kit" would work with my roller cam. Cost me #2 piston as both the exhaust and intake valve collided with my piston. Took head back and he swapped valves under warranty but said springs were not the issue it was camshaft had rounded. $1000 later i had new cam and spring set as well as pushrods and roller lifters. The new springs were 450lb open rate so no chance they couldnt close the valves. A week later boom #5 exhaust valve stuck open and bent from piston contact. Took heads into a different machine shop and they were not machined properly for the valves he supplied and would jam the hardened guides he put in. Now its going to cost me another $1000 to rework the heads to work properly. For the overall price i paid for these "$285 heads" i could have had 2 sets of edelbrocks. Anyone who says hes a good machinist either has been lucky or hasnt had catastrophe....yet. And if you call him with issues he ghosts you. The through axle on my Fatbike became fused. I went to three bike shops to have it removed and no one could do it. The only way a bike shop could remove the wheel could be to take an angle grinder to the fork. I would have had to buy a new fork and hub which would have been very expensive and inconvenient.I took the bike to Frank at MDM. It took a lot of work but Frank was able to drill out the axle and save the fork. He even did it without ruining the bearings. Thanks for your hard work Frank. I really appreciate it.

Brought a flywheel in last weekend it was pretty trashed, within 45 minutes Phil had it looking better than new worked great looked great also had my bolt holes numbered with a paint pen went above and beyond to punch numbers into them 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking to get a flywheel resurfaced.

I have been dealing with Frank for a number of years and I'm sad to say the attention to detail is not there anymore. Got a phone call that my block was toast because a main bearing had spun in the block. Being this was a running engine that made no sense to me. I went and looked at my block" it wasn't even my engine. When I got the bill for work done on my block he charged me for inspecting somebody else's engine. I took a picture of the quote and we did not have a line hone quoted. When I asked Frank to bring up the quote he added line hone with a pencil to the bottom. Said I had called in and asked him to do it.If you can't even remember who's engine belongs to who and the work being done. How can you think the customer is even being charged correctly. Hope you enjoy that $250 dollars you lost a customer for life and I have been sure to tell all my friends and recommend against this shop. Good luck guys."

Our auto repair business has been using Frank at MDM for about 5 years now. We have him resurface flywheels; machine exhaust manifolds; rebuild cylinder heads and even rebuild engines. It has all been good work. Frank did all the machining on the engine in my personal truck that I drive every day, and 5 years later it still runs great.

Had Frank help me with a 1965 Ford 289 engine. The workmanship was top notch along with the advice on the build. Starting another one shortly and wouldn't go anywhere else. Highly recommended by many auto parts dealers in the city as well. Noticed some negative reviews but there are many factors that go into an engine build and folks are always looking to blame when things go wrong. I would be very very surprised if it had anything to do with Frank's work.

MDM Automotive did great work for me on the front spindles for my car. They removed the old hubs, bearings and ball joints and replaced with new ones. One of the bearings was especially stuck in place but they had the press equipment and skill to successfully remove it. They even cleaned up the speed sensor mounting holes and other areas of the spindles that will help speed up installation. Overall a quality job done in a very timely manner from some knowledgeable and friendly people!

Had known frank from 2010 when I bought a 5.7 long block for a 1998 Silverado. That engine worked a treat and a reasonable cost. So lately a friend and I bought a honda ridgeline to potentially flip if and make a few bucks. We bought it with the engine half stripped and knowing engine trouble was ahead. Figured if be able to hone, re ring and do heads. But I found the bores were worn far beyond honing. We searched for a engine (J35A9) but only ever recieved junk as I bore scoped them and they were all scored. So I brought the block to frank and he said he would be able to salvage it. I stripped the block and heads and left them to him. He also gave a quote for all parts to rebuild. We went for it. It was supplied in a timely fashion with all the parts and info I needed to rebuild. Quality work on cylinders amd heads (full time heavy equip tech so know what I'm looking at). Rebuilt the engine and 1000km later and it's running perfectly. Thanks to frank and team!
