Refinery Salon and Barber

Great haircut and friendly staff. It was my first time but I will be back. I especially liked the straight blade shave on the back of the neck. Nice touch.

I'm not usually one to leave reviews, however I am really disappointed with the recent interactions I've had with the new owner Michelle at The Refinery in Newcastle. I had booked a haircut online for my son the morning of May 19 scheduled for May 20. I received a call mid day on the 19th advising that the stylist I had booked with was sick and that my appointment would be cancelled. Okay. Fine. These things happen. On May 24 I made another appointment for him with the same stylist for 4:50 on May 26. 33 minutes before the appointment was scheduled I received a call saying that my stylist wasn't feeling well and that my appointment was cancelled. When I mentioned that this happened to us last week as well Michelle's response was a condescending and uncompassionate well people get sick". During both of these cancellation calls she did not initiate any attempt to try to reschedule the appointment or have another stylist fill in. So yes

A very friendly staff, and great atmosphere... A little pricy for kids cuts ($29), but i guess that's everywhere?

Great barber shop mixed into a salon. Nicely decorated. Friendly barber and did a great job. Oddly I asked for a wash and cut to which he said its $25 for a cut or a wash and cut, and I walked out with ONLY the cut after asking for both. Otherwise, great place for men and women to get a cut.

Michelle is an absolute gem!!! So happy with my sons hair cut. Great professional service with quality and class. His original appointment needed to be rebooked due to a stylist being sick which is totally understandable as it is Covid life!! I’m so happy she called me ahead of time to make sure I didn’t show up without an appointment and so the stylist could rest and get better! She made sure to have him rebooked as soon as she could which I so appreciated! I am so thrilled with the results and her professionalism! 10/10 would recommend this shop and Michelle!

This honestly was a wonderful experience.The cut was top knotch.1st time visit and not the last.
