Hoseki Sushi

This is not “high end”. As someone who is Japanese and actually worked as a high end Japanese restaurant server, I was highly disappointed in the experience. We ordered the sushi set and the tuna nigiri and some other nigiri had garlic flavour and was very confused because we didn’t get any explanation on the chefs choice of nigiri. When I used to work as a server I would describe what fish it is on each nigiri. Instead the server had no explanation. We asked why there was garlic flavour on some of the nigiri’s and he explained that this is the restaurant specialty… as a Japanese person I was confused because never in my life I had garlic inside a toro or tuna nigiri let alone no explanation of it. In fact it tasted like a residue of garlic. Like they used same knife or something instead of cleaning or using fresh tools….The set on the menu seemed pretty traditional and that kind of “specialty” should be explained because we did not like the garlic flavour which caught us offguard.(And the rice was automatically brown which should be optional. I would prefer white rice for nigiri and maki)We asked why didn’t we get an explanation on this garlic and server said he had no time for us to explain what’s on the nigiri since he literally said “I was too busy with serving other customers and had no time for you so come back next time when we are less busy” lmao it was Wednesday….and that explanation was…extremely rude and unprofessional…I was stunned didn’t know what to say honestly…this is…not high end as they say…I worked at a high end sushi place for many years and some days I worked alone but never have I ever explained to a customer that way. I would make sure they know what fish they are eating. On top of that I would ask if there are any allergies to take note of.Imagine if I was allergic to garlic????I just think this server made the reason up on the whim cuz honestly it makes absolute no sense at all.Another reason this place is not high end:Someone brought a baby cart inside the small restaurant right at the entrance and taking up much space with baby crying a lot and turns out all of them were family members /staffs of the restaurant. The lady with yoga pants and t shirt was bussing while watching the baby. This is not what you will see at a high end restaurant period. It’s trying to be something that is not. It felt like a food court lol. Even the way she bussed, she never said excuse me. Her arms suddenly reached over out of nowhere like we were at dim sum or something.Conclusion is no one here has absolutely no clue what a high end dining experience is and it a a shame that this type of restaurant exists in oakville. It’s embarrassing.I will not be back and will not be recommending this especially to my Japanese friends and family.

Delicious! I had the miso and sunset roll. I loved the textures and flavours. Like nothing I have had before, which I expected. The jazz and fountain makes for a relaxing environment. Well done! And yes I will be back. And the prefect place to enjoy a meal solo too.

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner there last night. The quality of the food and service is impeccable. A very enjoyable experience, Oakville is lucky to have such a fine restaurant.

Absolutely amazing omakase experience. You have to try this place. Best sushi we've ever had and they clearly spend a lot of time seeking out great fish from around the world and then preparing it. The accompanying sauces were also phenomenal, who'd have thought of combining truffle oil with salmon? It's not been open long so go before it gets crazy busy and you have to wait to get in.

Chef Tim is a true master of his craft.I live in NY and have traveled a lot globally to have some critically acclaimed sushi, and Hoseki is up there in my top 5 worldwide!I was fortunate to have experienced this place on its soft opening with a 12 course omakase experience.The sea bream, the Uni and otoro were the highlights. Best of all, was the service and the staff!Highly recommend!!!!@business owner who has responded to my review - here's my rationale for the 4 star rating: It was a soft opening and as a result it would be unfair to review as though it wasn't. Additionally, the server messed up our plates, didn't change them in time nor did we get water until Chef Tim pointed it out. I rated the food as 5 stars and that's thoroughly deserved.

My husband and I had an incredible Omakase experience at Hoseki. Everyone there was so friendly. The atmosphere was wonderful. The food was phenomenal!!! We love how Chef uses the freshest and finest ingredients with his artistic sushi ability to create the perfectly balanced taste. Chef also explained each dish while presenting. Highly recommend to anyone who would like to have an amazing Omakase dinner.

If you're a sushi lover, then Hoseki in downtown Oakville is a must-try. I recently had the pleasure of dining in at this restaurant and I was blown away by everything from the food, service, and atmosphere.Firstly, let me start by saying that the sushi is hands down the best I have ever had. Every piece is perfectly crafted with fresh ingredients and expertly prepared.If you're on the go or don't have time for a dine-in experience, the take-out experience is just as great.Overall, Hoseki is a top-notch sushi restaurant that delivers an unforgettable dining experience both in the restaurant and for take out. The food and service truly set this restaurant apart, and I can't recommend it enough for any sushi lover looking for the best.

Very clean and nice restaurant, staff were very friendly and accommodating. The fish is extremely delicious and melts in your mouth, I got the Tuna lover dinner, amazing :)

Nice little place in a busy part of Oakville, if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, get there early... Parking is non existent.Great Sushi, very friendly staff, service is a little slow but very worth it. Price tag hit a bit harder then it should of but that's the price of good import sushi.

Had a great omakase experience with Chef Tim! The staff were attentive and the meal was delicious. The variety and quality of fish was beyond our expectations and made the experience that much more enjoyable. Having had omakase in Japan, we were excited to try it at Hoseki. The nigiri were comparable in quality if not better than what we had in Japan. We will definitely be returning for more!
