The Visa Process itself was very professional. Tight security, but that is expected. After all, it is a consulate. The people, right from the Security guard to the front desk to the Consular officer were very friendly, professional and approachable. But the post interview process needs improvement. It has been 15 days since my Visa interview and there has not been any update about my passport return. Reaching out to the support desk is not at all helpful since they keep saying that they have no access to the Consular section, so they cannot provide any update. A passport is a very important document, so I would at least expect some kind of status update or at least let me know that you have not misplaced my passport.

I went to US consulate on Monday morning. It was a very systematic and secured process. First the security guard checked if I had all the documents and I didn’t carry anything hazardous. The. There were 2 ladies who checked all my documents and pinned them together. Then I went through security check where they check every minute details. I had to take off my coat and shoes. Then we were took to another officer in a queue. She asked me about my employment status. Then they took my fingerprints. Then comes the real interview. They asked my basic questions like when did I move to Canada, whom do I live with but for others they asked a lot of questions like about thier work status, work profile, what does a day look like, how much they make, how did they get this job. So it was an easy and smooth process. Don’t be scared.

The best experience I’ve had, they helped me and my wife with our child who was upset and crying all the time. They even didn’t make us to line up, they facilitated the interview smoothly. Thanks the guards as well as staff. Great work US consulate in Calgary.

Extremely impressed and happy with the efficiency of the work they did here. Every employee made sure our process is the smoothest at all possible stages. The securities explained all basic rules very clearly and all other staff helping in getting our documents organised and ready. It might be a good idea to find and have parking spots ready in mind. The Arts Common public parking is where I parked and had like a 3 min (250m) walk to the building! Also try to carry only documents required and only essential electronics as it would help in the security screening process. But overall great experience and very happy with the service!

EDIT: Interview was on a Tuesday, Passport Pick-up Notification: Thursday! That was so fast!My appointment was this morning (Tuesday at 7:45AM) There were several stages" and I'll also share some clients do's and don'ts that will definitely make your appointment smoother. Please don't take a whole backpack with you. It's even written on the website. They will not let you in if you have a huge purse or a backpack

Great experience getting children's passports and reporting birth abroad for first time, lots of hoops to jump through as you would expect. Staff were helpful via email and in person during the appointment. Knowing what to expect now will be helpful if I need to attend future appointments.

It took less than an hour for me to complete my US B1/B2 visa appointment. Free storage space for any small electronics like a phone and a smartwatch. No storage for backpacks (not sure if you can keep it somewhere else?). The security personnel, reception and the visa officers were quite professional. Security personnel instructed people to take off their belts, shoes, and other items after documenting them. Everything was extremely courteously explained. If your interview location has changed, you don't need a new DS160. You can use your old one without any issues. All in all a very positive experience!!

Some tips. Please don’t take any bags or bag packs. You wouldn’t be allowed to take them inside and will have to put them somewhere after paying. Your mobile phone and smartwatch would be accommodated in the on site lockers. I avoided taking my keys as well. I would also suggest to wear easy clothes. You’ll have to take off your belts, caps/hats so better to avoid wearing these. You will have to take your shoes off too so wear something without laces. I would honestly wear joggers, t-shirt and slip ons to avoid any difficulties there. As far as the interview is concerned, it varies from case to case. Honestly for myself, the actual interview was 1-2 minutes long but the whole process approximately took 1 hour. The staff overall was very good and friendly. The interviewer was very friendly and straightforward.

I understand that visa officers have the last say for acceptance or rejection but at least it should be fair when we give interview.I don't want to feel like loser but I felt so unfair and racially discriminated today for having work permit and all my paperwork intact and only wanting to go to USA for a week as everyone would like to go.Visa officer just felt i am not eligible and didn't ask anything so i could explain and gave unappealable decisionI FEEL ITS RECOMMENDED NOT TO TAKE LAST APPOINTMENT TIMES LIKE AROUND 1130.But i want to appreciate the other security people at entrance and security check who were so nice and helpful.First time felt like no matter what visa we hold and how much it values ,if we are victim of racial discrimination or being unfair for not being heard ,it means nothing.USA i will try again and hope i get reasonable officer who would like to talk to meGOOD LUCK GUYS !!
