Beacon of Light Private Elementary School

The team at Beacon of Light is extremely professional and attentive to every child. The school management adapts well to the changing circumstances of the online learning and have done a great job keeping up the high standards of teaching during the pandemic and remote classes. Our daughter is happy at Beacon of Light and we are returning for grade 2 in September.

As the TDSB schools closed after March break 2020, we registered our 6th grade son with Beacon of Light so he could have additional support for the rest of the school year. The teachers are highly professional, carrying, hold their students to high academic standards, and were very supportive during the online meetings. As such, we decided to register our son for this school year with Beacon of Light. It was important for us that they are a small school, so our son will not feel overwhelmed or lost in the crowd". We find the fees to be reasonable as well."

We enrolled our two daughters, who are in Grade 1 and 5, at Beacon this year and we were very happy we did. The School provided our kids small class sizes, a positive learning environment and focused on individual teaching strategies. Another positive aspect is that each subject was taught by a different teacher, which help kept things interesting - this proved to be additionally beneficial when schools had to go virtual. I think Beacon provided our daughters with a great in-person learning environment, but also the best setup possible to learn virtually. The School added lots of variety to help keep students engaged such as guest speakers, math club, special art projects, yoga class, and virtual trips to Rippley's Aquarium and the Toronto Zoo, to mention a few. Our daughters did very well academically this year as there was a positive expectation to work hard and to do your best. The Teachers and Administration really do care about each student and their academic success.

I am a Toronto Elementary school teacher and I recommend this private school because it's great! Beacon of Light has caring teachers and a strong academic program. Students receive individualized attention, enjoy experiential learning (such as field trips) and achieve success. The program follows the Ontario curriculum and brings together Canadian and international perspectives. Students who have difficulties are well taken care of and receive extra support. It is a place that inspires learning and making connections.

I was looking for a school that has a small classroom size but will still give my son what he needs. I found it with Beacon of Light. When I met Ms. Mariana and had a chat with her I walked away feeling good about what I had heard. I knew my son would fit in.Six months later I am still feeling good about my choice. Let me tell you why. I was not feeling too worried about his grades, his grades were good. What I was looking for is more 1:1 for my son. He was getting lost in a classroom with 30 students. I wanted a school that would see my son as a whole person, his strengths, challenges, what makes him tick, and work with all of that. A school that sees him for who he is and works with him where he is at, not what they think he should be or how he should act. One that accepts him for him and provides the necessary tools needed to help him to shine and develop those areas that need growth.

We sent our daughter to Beacon of Light and it has been the best year of school she's had, despite the COVID challenges and virtual learning. The teachers and administration here are all about the students -- their academics and personal growth. They speak to the students at their level and show genuine care and warmth. They respect and celebrate each student's uniqueness and support their special needs. Our daughter has thrived in the school year despite our busy schedules and learned a ton. The class sizes are small and she has forged genuine friendships. She has regained confidence and has found a new love for science. We are proud of her progress and couldn't be more thankful.

Best investment I ever made. My child is happy and learning a ton. Experienced teachers with the heart at the right place. Only 5 kids ( and one online) in my sons class. Very affordable compared to other private schools. They spend a lots of time outside and planning excursions for the months to come. As well they have core French class every day from Grade 1. I am European so academics are important to me and they are getting it 100%. My child is coming home every day with a smile on his face telling me what new he learned. And that is priceless to me. Thank you wonderful staff at Beacon of Light.

Beacon School has small class sizes, dedicated teachers and an easy to get to upper beach location! In just a few short weeks of attendance at the Beacon School our child transformed into a happy social child, a dedicated student and a learner looking to be challenged. For parents looking for a private elementary school that supports emotional growth in a safe and joyful environment and guides children to be the best student they can be, the Beacon School is it! The Beacon School met and exceeded our expectations, we could not be happier with the education our child received and the friendships they formed. The principal/owner and the teachers work so hard to nurture the students, while maintaining a strong and supportive academic program.

Both of my children have loved the Beacon school experience and received an excellent education while also making great friends and building values that will last a lifetime.Beacon School has been a nurturing environment for our children with an excellent academic environment and wonderful culture and community!. It has played a crucial role in our sons' development.

This small elementary school is the mostWONDERFUL school for my 7 year old son, I simply cannot believe we have found this school- for anyone who is sick of the large class sizes and lack of one on one care this is the place for you- the teachers are so nurturing, kind and very experienced. My son has dyslexia and they are fantastic at helping him learn how he is meant to- this isn’t a cookie cutter school- all the kids are encouraged to research and learn about the things that they are interested in, all the while following the Ontario curriculum. My favourite thing about Beacon Light is that due to the personalized teaching and small class size, the kids can get through their work and each day there is an outing to the park/beach/ravine and often excursions to museums and galleries- the kids are able to move and play freely which is so very important. Mariana and Andra are like family and nurture the children beautifully- they hire experts in to teach French, science and other subjects- it’s awesome. Prices are very very reasonable for a small private school. Highly recommended by us!
