Recently, I commissioned Chaulk Woodworking for a custom kitchen for my design studio in Haliburton Village.The kitchen is unique and offers metal mesh inlaid uppers with specialized detail in the custom island. Through my project I dealt with Trevor (the owner), Ian (director of sales), Lyle (project manager), John (countertop specialist), and the installers Mark and Justin. Every single person on this team was professional, likeable and it was clear that all of them take pride in delivering a quality customer service experience and an impeccable final product.As a designer, I had very specific criteria when choosing whom I would work with to showcase my work. Such a pleasure to do business with Chaulk Woodworking! I had been having difficulties simply getting to the stage of quotes on my recent kitchen/bathrooms renovations when a friend recommended Chaulk. Trevor came out the day after speaking with him and offered suggestions and options that I hadn’t even considered. The whole process was painless and everyone I dealt with was friendly and knowledgeable including the staff in the office and the installers. Not only did I get my renovations completed in a timely and professional manner, I feel like I made some friends in the process. My kitchen is gorgeous and my new bathroom countertops are lovely. I have used Chaulk Woodworking for two projects now, a larger kitchen project and a laundry room counter top. After using Chaulk for the kitchen and seeing how easy they made the ordering and instillation, I thought I could get away with purchasing a cabinet piece from a box store with similar satisfaction with the end result. I have never been so wrong, the box store cabinet was flimsy, the cheap melamine chipped and peeled and it wobbled even after leveling it and using many of my own wood screws to try and hold it together. I can not believe the difference in quality a professionally made cabinet can be, even at their most cost-effective level. A department store cabinet may save you a couple dollars up front but it is not worth the stress and heartache of a subpar finished project that will end up being replaced.The second time I used Chaulk Woodworking, I had them make a new counter top for the department store cabinet I previously described. This poor, sad, flimsy little cabinet has its own Cinderella story. The gentleman that installed the counter top helped level it, secure it and top it with a beautiful counter that brought it from rags to riches. No More Wobble! I can only imagine how good the laundry room would have looked if I had gotten the entire unit from Chaulk instead of just the topper.I am currently renovating my first home and lessons like this one, have been humbling. Invest in high quality tools, do your homework when trying something new and use professional services when it comes to aspects of your home you want to last. I am excited to use Chaulk Woodworking again as I continue to renovate my home.
