Had a birthday dinner here so wanted to try a few dishes. I’d highly recommend any of the fish as it was very fresh and melted in my mouth. The mariawase was definitely worth it for a special occasion!I’d skip the tonkatsu, although good, it’s definitely not their specialty.

4.2/5We ordered the Chirashi as takeout. The fish was fresh and the donburi bowl was filled with many bits of flavours. My only critique would be that the quality of rice could be better, but otherwise, nice place to stop by for a treat! The food goes well with a cold bottle of sake.

This little gem used to be my favorite Japanese restaurant in Downtown Toronto. I haven't been here for about 2 years since I moved out of the city.Maybe I had really high hopes for this place. I found the rice wasn't as flavourful as it used to be.I ordered a takeout for supreme chirashi bowl which supposed to have more variety of deluxe (more expensive type) sashimi. Apparently the fishes are different daily depending on what they have on hand. So I could be just out of my luck today as those fishes I got didn't feel that deluxe to me nor worth $40. Yes, $40. Not so happy about the price either. Anyways, I still feel this place is better than most sushi joints for the quality of food so I still give it 4. Will I return? Maybe... in 2 yrs? Lol

I would like to start by saying we have had a good experience with this restaurant for a sushi dinner from their regular menu before, but recently we have a really...really poor experience with two orders of omakase for our birthday celebration at this restaurant. It is costly, and what offered simply were not justified at all. The first course, soup was too salty. Some of cold appetizers were not fresh; the cold shrimp had some bad smell. There was 80% batter for fried oysters. It ended with a greasy fried fish neck, and a bowel of ice-cream. This was the worst experience we had for omakase. Never, ever go for their omakase. We are extremely disappointed.

I did not like sushi before eating here. But here, every piece of sashimi tasted fresh and unique. Sometimes with bad sashimi you get this awful texture but the sashimi here all had very pleasant textures.Ordered the chirashi bowl, sashimi set and a sushi set. I enjoyed the hamachi and tuna the most. The sushi rice is cooked perfectly. Also really liked their salad dressing, it has a strong sesame taste. The place is very small with seating super close to the next table. People can be loud.

Tiny hole-in-the-wall spot that is surprisingly reminiscent of a regular sushi joint in Japan. I ordered the deluxe chirashi don and while the presentation was fantastic, it didn't taste as good as I expected it to be.The biggest offender was the rice. It was clumpy and didn't taste fresh. Fortunately, the sashimi featured a good selection of fish (and mushrooms...) and slices were generous. However I was disappointed that some of the sashimi - including the expensive belly cuts - had been blowtorched. What a waste! The filler garnishes also threw the meal off-balance because there was so much of it that I had to remove some.I got my order for $12 off during the Ritual Food Fest and I thought it was moderate value. Had it been original price, I don't think it would have been worth it.

We got Sushi Sashimi Moroawase, Japango Roll, Sushi Pizza, and Salmon & Avocado Tartar. Sushi Sashimi Moriawase was a chef’s selection platter that came with 8 pieces of Sushi & 10 pieces of Sashimi, it had Aburi Otoro, King Salmon, Shimaji, Kampachi, Madai Sashimi; Bluefin Tuna, Salmon, BC Uni, Ikura, Hamachi, Sea Bass, Sea Bream, Fluke Sushi, everything was SUPER fresh! This set also came with Clam Miso Butter Soup that was super sweet! Japango Roll was their Signature Roll, it was a California Roll, topped with Seared Salmon, Hokkaido Scallop with Unagi Sauce and Spicy Mayo, loved it so much!! Sushi Pizza had a crispy deep fried Sushi Rice Base topped with Salmon, drizzled with Sauce, so good! Salmon & Avocado Tartar was beautifully presented, the Yuzu Ponzu was amazing, it elevated the dish so much!

Service was excellent, the atmosphere was nice. The place was quite small but definitely cozy. We would not have been able to have a spot if we didn't make a reservation. The food was decent. Had a salmon don, would have been nice if it had more flavor other than the sauce provided. But all in all it was pretty good! Will come back for a quick dinner again.

A small, cozy restaurant that never disappoints! The Chirashi Supreme will fill you right up - a delicious selection of fresh sashimi that melts in your mouth. The rice was cooked to perfect and complemented each piece of fish perfectly. If you're coming here with a larger party - definitely try to make reservations considering how they can only seat 20 people or so.
