Sat. Evening, there are only a few restautants were opened yet. But these food is good, and customer service is excellent. If the price would become better, that would be 100% perfect.

If you like loud boomer music and average food this is the place for you. We waited 40 minutes after being seated for our food to arrive. I am vegetarian and ordered a black bean burger with cheese and a side Caesar salad, I asked to have the salad without bacon bits and the server assured me the side Caesar did not come with bacon bits. However it arrived with bacon and instead of apologizing she insisted that I ordered the bacon! Rather than wait longer my husband was kind enough to swap and the server disappeared. The black bean burger was OK but the oven roasted potatoes and carrots were a sad affair. There seemed to be a lot of staff but my sense was they could have been trained to be more efficient eg. not walk past tables that needed cutlery or napkins several times before customers have to ask for them. When the bill came there was a small additional charge for cheese on the black bean burger. Again the server did not apologize!I didn’t appreciate music so overpowering that conversation was difficult and didn’t appreciate servers who were insincere. I will not return to The Freight Shed, and will warn anyone I know visiting Baddeck to look for alternative dinner plans. Such a shame because even though the food is disappointing , the service poor the location is beautiful.

The food was delicious; love the fact the kitchen is open and you can see them cooking. Chefs and waitresses could be heard singing along with the good music playing. Awesome atmosphere, great service. Absolutely worth coming to this restaurant!

The Freight Shed has a very unique and cool atmosphere. Rebuilt into a restaurant, the kitchen has an open concept and the staff is very friendly. It was really wonderful watching the dishes come out of the kitchen all night- they all looked so delicious! The grilled cheese was flavorful with the sweetness of the apricot jam. Everyone was smiling even throughout the busyness which made it a wonderful experience.

Food was good but unfortunately took forever! It would have been a more pleasurable experience if the delays had been explained by our server or the manager. Lovely atmosphere as long as you’re outside; inside is loud and hot (due to the open kitchen) and barely has views of the water.

What a gem! I had two crab cakes and a glass of rose, a pricey night but delicious. Food, service and atmosphere were amazing. I sat alone at the bar and watched plate after plate of fantastic and beautiful food leaving the open kitchen. Can't wait to go back and try more!!

Such a cool place! Loved the atmosphere. Was there for breakfast this morning, so delish! Had the coconut, blueberry pancakes, yum! Three thick pancakes, I could only eat one while there and took the rest home. My sis had the poutine breakfast. I tried it and it was spectacular! The staff were super nice! 10/10! I’ll definitely be going back!

This place was one of the only restaurants open in the area, and was very welcoming to my group. We came here for dinner and had to wait about 20 minutes until a table inside opened up. It was far too windy to sit on the outdoor tables, but I’m sure it’s beautiful in warm weather. The lobster roll was a slightly toasted hot dog bun with lettuce and a good amount of lobster in it. It came with a side - I chose the chowder. The chowder was creamy with large chunks of fish in it. I would deduct a star because my friend ordered the spicy bean burger, and it could have used hot sauce for the spice (it had a very mild flavour). As with any place outside big cities in Canada, if you are a POC, just be ready for side eyes. For the price of $44 + tip, I’d say the meal I had was very filling especially after a long hiking day along the Cabot Trail.

My wife and I were in Baddeck, NS with a tour group and found the Freight Sled on our first walk through the downtown area. We made our way back on a Tuesday night in late May only to find the place packed inside with a lively crowd, mainly due to it being a little cold for sitting outside. The service was excellent and we settled in with a nice glass of wine. Our appetizer order of seafood chowder exceeded our expectations, while the entree Caesar salads were prepared and chilled to perfection. All were very tasty and the water views made our stay very memorable. Bottom line...if you find yourself in Beddeck, NS be sure to make the Freight Sled a must stop.

Had dinner and loved it. Sure not too cheap, but the plates are nicely presented and super tasty! The open kitchen and friendly staff does the rest.Try the halibut and/or the chowder….. yummy!
