Sandman Hotel & Suites Calgary West

I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel! It is clean and my room (executive king) was very nicely appointed. The lady at the front desk was also very welcoming and nice and the price here doesn't break the bank.

While the nature of our stay wasn't a pleasant one we were treated with nothing but extreme kindness from all of the staff. From the moment we walked in, the manager, Denis Perkovic, greeted us with a smile and then went over & beyond to make sure our family was well taken care of during our stay. Our rooms were lovely and clean and the staff were all wonderful to deal with regarding extending our stay and making sure we had everything we needed. I would gladly stay here again and recommend the hotel to everyone.

The hotel was clean and basically alright. There is no breakfast included, but a Denny’s is connected and seniors get a $10 voucher. The hot tub was a boiling tub, I have NEVER been in a hotter one. We spent maybe 5 minutes total with our feet in and one of those minutes actually soaking. There are not very many outlets in the room unfortunately. One criticism is that at the back there is handicap parking spaces and a ramp, however, there is no switch to open the doors automatically. It would be difficult for a wheelchair user to open the doors from the outside.

This hotel needs a serious update. There was hardly any plug-ins in the room, so if you need to charge more than one device at a time, good luck.The coffee station in the room was equipped with everything to make a coffee, except for coffee filters. So if i wanted to use it, I would need to deal with the coffee grounds in my cup.The shower/tub was filthy, so i was a bit hesitant to use it, but I did and was met with a shower handle that fell off at my feet. The light switch was also very dirty and looked like someone smeared their dirt covered hands all over it.The water faucet in the bathroom was also backwards causing me to burn my hands when trying to get cold water. (Hot was on the right and cold on the left).The bed was lumpy as well and smelled like someone had been sleeping in the sheets (they did not feel clean either). I also have a strange rash forming after checking out, and this is the only thing that I figure could cause it, as I’ve never had a rash like this before (small bumps, might be mites).The desk in the room was also shaky and felt like it was about to fall apart, so I did not use it when doing my work on my computer.The air unit was very dodgy, stopped working altogether at one point and was very loud when it did work causing us to have a poor sleep.All in all, a very poor experience. At least the staff is nice.

Staff were very friendly and helpful when were updating our stay options. Room was clean and had a great separated room design. Close drive to beautiful scenic Bow River walk and dog park.

The room wasn’t as clean as it should have been the shower had mold and mildew all around the bottom. The shower fixture needed to be tightened, there was a light in the living room hanging by one screw. The room was ridiculously hot and the air conditioning didn’t work. Bed was really comfortable though and the view from the room was decent.

5 star hospitality on my recent visits to this property.I found the rooms met my needs, always clean and comfortable.Front desk team & management were always checking in to make sure I had everything I needed.I appreciate the genuine desire to make my stay as excellent as possible. Well done.

We stayed at the Sandman West for two nights to celebrate my birthday. We had some issues with check-in (our fault, not the hotels fault). Kevin at the front desk was incredibly polite and patient and was able to quickly help us resolve the issue. When we needed extra bedding for my daughter, he let us know there should be extras in the room, but also provided a pillow and blanket at the desk. The room was cozy, the bed was very comfortable and the pool was fun and not over crowded. On Sunday upon check out, we noticed we only had one of the key cards (we saw it while packing up but had no clue where it went), Sandeep assured us it wasn't a problem and got us checked out and on our way in a timely manner. All around a great stay and we will definitely be back!

Nice hotel at a fair price. Specific rooms are pet friendly. I booked on a booking app that didn't specify which rooms are pet friendly and when I arrived they notified me that I booked a room that wasn't pet friendly. They corrected this for me and were super helpful. And in addition they gave my dog a some treats and a new toy!Would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at this hotel for one month. I find the staff exceptional. Services are great including a bar and restaurant connected to the hotel. The housekeeping staff are very thorough and very helpful. In particular the night manager on Canada Day is excellent, the perfect example of a host.
