Only played the Mountain course, not a good layout and the condition was only decent considering the cost. They don’t clean your clubs when you come in like they say they do online. They don’t have anywhere for a pre-drink/snack except the takeout window and the sandwiches there are brutal. Practice range is pretty rough, mats mostly unless no one is out there, then you can sneak onto the grass. If the names Furry Creek and Silvertip bring you shivers, then avoid the Mountain course. As with those courses, the view is all you’re getting. If you enjoy bringing four clubs with you for your second blind shot of the hole while creeping down a steep embankment after teeing off with a six iron…this is your course.

Played the Mountain course yesterday. Everything from check in staff, bag drop and convenience services were great.Practice range had grass as well as pass to hit from and unlimited balls. (Range distances for flags would be good).Starter was super friendly and introduced me to the 2 ball I was playing with and gave us a conversation starter based on our mutual industry’s.This course was challenging but did allow some birdie attempts. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were immaculate. All fairways allowed carts and they had gps with blind shot warnings. I’d recommend having a good guide book/app to help with course management to help you navigate the obstacles.Greens and tees linked together very well.At the turn the convenience staff were very friendly and the shot of whiskey prepped us for the island green. One of the group managed to hit the green and was a nice spot for a photo opportunity. All in all a great experience. Was a little spendy but I had a great day so feel I got my money’ worth.

This is a tough one...The good - incredible views, course is in amazing shape, a bucket list round. Staff are helpful. The bad - too expensive. Too tough. Too many holes aren't accessible by cart. Biggest disappointment? No hot dogs at the turn @ 11am.Notable - restaurant in the hotel was beautiful, but food didn't meet expectations. Overpriced and underwhelming. Will I return? Probably not. Way better value nearby at Highland Pacific.

Mountain course and valley course are very challenging. Great track, but too many blind shots. Greens need more speed.

Great course but no info that it was cart path only, had kids come at 18 to try and get us in when we were a 4 hour round because we were the last at 7pm. Not worth the money at all

There’s a blind shot on almost every hole on the mountain course. The bunkers weren’t raked. The tee boxes were destroyed in divots. There is no parking included unless you park a ten minute walk from the club house. There is only one toilet, yes you read that right…. One men’s toilet-unbelievable. We found it so confusing to get checked in, get a buggy and a rental set. There are some nice holes but too many goofy shots to be considered a good course. Definitely not worth the price!!

Beautiful, challenging Mountain golf course, stunning views, lots of elevation changes, helpful and courteous staff. Not a walking course.

I golfed two days with my son. The first day was great on the mountain course. The second day was the worst experience I’ve had in decades. We showed up before our tee time, and saw a group on the green, a group on the fairway, and two groups waiting. The marshal stated we missed our tee time, but our tee time was still 5 minutes to go, and we were already waiting 5 minutes. The Marshall then told us the group on the fairway was part of a three group party, with two groups in front of us!!!! We were then told to jump ahead to the third fairway and we could play 1 and 2 after. We jumped ahead and we were sandwiched between two groups, and the group behind was upset, and landed balls near us the whole round. No courtesy or apology from the staff although we made our frustrations known. Super slow round. Nice course, but for $500 plus for two, the service was pathetic. Much better value almost anywhere else.

Overpriced, poor customer experience, lack of proper facilitiesThere were so many things wrong with our two trips to the Bear Mountain golf complex that I don’t even know where to begin.Parking - despite the clubhouse being located within the Westin hotel grounds, golfers are not allowed to park in the main parking lot unless we pay - we were directed to a gravel parking lot that was quite a walk from the clubhouse - but we chose to ignore thatBag caddies - both times we arrived at the the property we were greeted by a sullen bag caddy who did not even look us in the eye - nor give us any sense that we were welcomeClubhouse - our first trip to Bear Mountain we were playing the Mountain course after 2 pm - we brought a change of clothes as we had dinner plans in town after. We were stunned to learn that golfers did not have access to any sort of locker rooms - they are only reserved for “Bear Mountain members”. After our round we were forced to change in the hotel public washrooms which was quite embarrassing. We could not believe we paid $199 (Mountain twilight - normal rates are $269!) for a round of golf with NO access to proper changing facilities.Golf courses - The mountain course was beautiful and well-equipped with proper washrooms, flush toilets, and a halfway house for drinks and snacks. (although the Mountain starter did not seem to have a clue where the washrooms were - which I found very rude as a female golfer - you can do better). The Valley course was another story - we paid $239 for a morning round there. We tried to keep an open mind about this one, even though we were already annoyed that we would not have access to the locker rooms after the game. The starter was lovely but unfortunately left out some pertinent details. He too had no clue where the washrooms were. And when we DID find them they turned out to be port-a-potties (really?) and there was NO halfway house at all. There was a cart girl on the course, but at no point did anyone mention she would be our only source of food/drink for the round. And again - $239 to play on a course with no proper facilities?GPS - both these courses are quite difficult and the Mountain in particular has a lot of blind shots. We were disappointed that the GPS on the cart did not give any helpful tips during the round, as many courses offer. This would be a nice touch for the first-time visitors (which would be most people I would imagine) and also help with pace of play.Pace of play - Our afternoon at Mountain was fine - we were a twosome in between some foursomes but pace was as good as it could be. Valley, though, was a nightmare. We were a twosome wedged in between 2 large groups. By the fourth hole we were already 8 minutes off pace. On the fifth hole (par 4) there were FOUR groups on the hole - one on the green - one in the fairway and TWO waiting to tee off. This tells me that the tee times are obviously too close together. And the pace NEVER improved - we were over 20 minutes off pace by the time we hit the 18th hole. We saw a marshall once (at the fourth hole) and never again - and clearly he had no impact on the pace anyway! We played 10 rounds of golf in Victoria during our stay. Both Bear Mountain courses rank at the bottom, in terms of value for money and for sure customer experience. We remarked more than once that you can play 3 rounds at the stunning Highland Pacific GC for the same price as one round at Bear Mountain (Mountain) and be so much happier. We had heard from locals during other rounds that there is currently a dispute between the golf course owners and hotel owners. Regardless of what is going on, however, this should NOT impact the guest experience for your golfers. You can do better! Especially if you want to keep charging $239/$269 to play your courses!

Valley course is amazing! Jack Nicklaus really out did himself on this property! There wasn't a single hole that didn't feel dissapointing or boring. All 18 holes were unique and challenging. The course has a great variety of holes from mong par 3s to short par 4s and forced carries. Not a single gimmick I thought. The fairways were immaculate and the greens were perfect after being punched only 2 weeks ago. Aside from the greens being a little slow and the traps needing some TLC, this course quickly jumped into my all-time top 5!
