Haven’t had the opportunity to speak with the doctor himself, but called in to inquire if they received my referral. The receptionist was quite awful, and rude. Not even going to bother following up and wouldn’t advise calling in - quite an unpleasant person to talk to.

Met Dr.Penner for my daughter today. He was to help us after an Dr failed us. Dr. Penner was so kind and very pleasant with my disabled daughter, who is non verbal. I can not have asked for a better Dr and his receptionist was amazing.

Dr Penner removed my gall bladder in Oct 2020 and the procedure went off as he said it would and all symptoms I was experiencing prior to, have dissipated. I found Dr Penner and his Receptionist to have been pleasant and professional. Thanks.

Dr. Penner is an extraordinary surgeon and a wonderful person. I had a great experience with him and his staff. Dr. Penner took the time to go over everything in regards to my procedure and never made me feel rushed. He has very good bedside manner. Highly recommend.

When I was in Cambridge Memorial hospital, post-surgery, I had a reaction to an IV drip that caused severe pain, and muscle spasms. Not knowing what was happening (thinking blood clot, stroke, heart attack...), in pain and fearful, I pressed the call button. 20 minutes later, a woman responded, who I believed was a nurse, and later found out was only a PSW. When she responded, she did not offer assistance, but said, I will get your nurse, and left. 10 minutes later, I pressed the call button again (still in agonizing pain), and a different woman responded, (obviously another PSW, unknown to me at the time), who said she would get my nurse.10 more minutes went by (total 40mins since I first experienced symptoms), and my nurse strolls in, saying, “I hear you want another dose of your pain meds.”How could there be such a break down in communication?!!!When I explained what I was experiencing, I was informed it was a side effect of the type of IV I was receiving, which could be corrected, by slowing down the drip. What if this had been a real emergency???What if I really had been having a stroke or heart attack??Would I be dead?!!I complained to the nursing Manager. My complaint focused on the breakdown of communication and lack of training. My roommate corroborated everything I was saying.Dr Penner was obviously told, by the nursing staff, of the situation (which I have to admit, is not the only complaint I have about my experience in this hospital, and with this surgeon), and when he did his rounds later in the day, the first thing he said to me was, “you seem to be under the impression, that everyone here, is out to get you”.This was a very unprofessional, disrespectful, and insensitive comment, on his part.Although he apologized, I cannot shake my feelings of disbelief, that a doctor, whose care I was under, would treat me, in that way, before even having a discussion with me, about the incident.I was in hospital, btw, because I had gone to the ER at CMH, and found out I needed an emergency gallbladder removal.I waited several days in the ER, before the emergency surgery was performed. It was discovered, during the surgery, that gangrene had set in, and my gallbladder was necrotic, by the time it was removed.I had never had a gallbladder attack previously; so it is apparent that the gangrene set in, as I waited for surgery.I was released one day after the surgery was performed; but ended up back in the ER, and subsequently, the surgical floor, after only one day home, because I had an abscess near the surgical site.I required a drain, which could only be inserted at Grand River Hospital, in Kitchener.I had to wait one week, to be scheduled for that drain; and spent the majority of that week in Cambridge hospital, as I had a fever, was in severe pain, and could not keep any food or liquids down.Once I was released, I was prescribed an antibiotic and pain killer to be taken orally, while I was at home. The antibiotic was different than what I was receiving by IV in the hospital; and I experienced a severe allergic reaction, causing a red, itchy, painful rash over 70% of my body.My experience, in its totality, was very poor.I am luckily, coming out the other side of it, now.

I had my surgery a couple of days ago and Dr Penner was fantastic. So far, I have been able to go without taking any pain meds, not even Tylenol, even though I am experiencing a little pain. He was great in reviewing what would happen during the operation to remove my gall bladder. I do have a follow up with him. So far everything has been clockwork.

Dr. Penner is amazing he performed my surgery ~2yrs ago. His receptionist however is the rudest person I have ever met. Extremely disappointed that she's the first person a patient interacts with.

When you receive a random email from a doctors office you've never heard of, that says your doctor referred you to us. And below the email signature it says the doctors name and, general Surgeon". I think it's pretty normal to ask questions if you haven't discussed any surgery with your doctor. Well I did and what followed was a volley of snide emails from his medical assistant who took it personally that I would have the nerve to question who they were and why were they reaching out. Turns out my doctor was referring me for a colonoscopy. How would I know that from her email that had no introduction and no reason for the referral? And when I mentioned
