I hired Andrew Akehurst of Little Island Woodworks to help me build my dream home and that is exactly what he did.Andrew designed and rebuilt my unique 1968 Silver Streak travel trailer.I had been looking for the right contractor who would see my vision, work with me through the process of building this unique home, have the appropriate skill-set, and complete the project within the decided-on period of time. Andrew over exceeded my expectations. His knowledge and experience, professionalism and kind nature, made him the best contractor for the job. I would recommend Andrew as the number one choice if you were looking towards new builds or renovationsHis role in the rebuild of the Silver Streak was comprehensive. Beginning with design. We sat together and flushed out what were my needs and vision of my new space. A first draft was presented to me, more discussion, more tightening up of the design. When the final design layout was agreed upon, he submitted a budget including labour and materials. His aim was to repurpose as much as could be saved from the original travel trailer.The exterior was addressed first, patching, repairing and sealing. Attention was then turned to the inside. The electrical, plumbing and heating came next, followed by insulation. Then the moment I had been waiting for; in went the fir flooring and the creation and framing of the interior space. With bedroom room, bathroom, kitchen and sitting room in place, built-in storage and furniture finished off the project.As the project moved from start to finish, Andrew sourced all the materials, updated me on the budget and finished my Silver Streak home, which is completely off grid ready, on schedule.

Andrew is a joy to work with and does absolutely beautiful high-quality work. He designed and built a custom wooden bathroom vanity and cabinet for us, including a customized concrete counter. I come from a family of fine woodworkers and furniture makers so I am very picky and am really happy with the quality of craftsmanship! I would highly recommend Andrew - he was patient, professional and communicative throughout the design, building and installation process.

We had Andrew design, build and install some sliding doors for our laundry room. He did a most excellent job and at a good price. He is hard working honest man.

We approached Andrew to provide some required woodworking steps needed in the making of a vinyl record console. In the end he built the entire unit for us. His price was reasonable and his craftsmanship was superb. Thanks to Andrew, our daughter loved her Christmas present. She will enjoy the piece of furniture for many years to come!
