Best tech in the city. I always send my studio clients to Steve for the best setup, pre session. He's worked some magic on my guitars too! Really fast turnaround, really nice folks and top notch service. Really beautiful guitars for sale in their small showroom as well.

This is the 3rd guitar of mine for Steve and team to work on. I brought in a jazzmaster to get some locking tuners installed that I received for Christmas. After insuring the tuners were the correct size, he gave me a quote and time to pick up the next day on my way home from work. Steve locked out the tremolo like I asked, and actually was able to remove the string tree due to the style of tuners. The guitar looks fantastic and plays so well after the set up. Very professional, fast return time, and under the quote! Thanks Steve

It’s clear from their work that they’re real musicians and know what it takes to bring an instrument back to life as well as being genuinely hard working and great guys. They had my bass guitar with awful neck issues set up and feeling better than ever basically overnight and I couldn’t be happier with the work they did. After so much frustration with other techs in the city, I am very excited to have finally found R Guitars! From the moment I stepped into their shop they treated me so well. They took the time to listen to what was going on, and provided solutions to fix the problems. A new saddle and some fret work and I was good to go. The turn around time was impressive, and their rates were very reasonable. I would recommend them to absolutely everyone!

Wonderful all around!!!My elderly father brought his guitar in for a small repair. The person who helped us went over a couple potential options for this, AND we were given info about setting up the instrument for more comfortable playing/use IF he wanted, and they even recommended a thinner gauge of guitar strings based on what my dad particularly needed. Helpful, polite, informative, and it appears that they’ve done excellent work.They also come highly recommended by the lead guitarist of the band Mental Schism!

Brought my American Strat in with tuning issues yesterday, hoping to have it back for a gig in three days time. Steve had the problem figured out in less than ten minutes and my guitar was back in less than 24 hours and playing perfectly again. This is the second guitar I've bought in, and the second time it's come back with very noticeable improvements in feel & playability. I'm sure there's other great techs out there, but I can't imagine going anywhere else. Considering the lifetime maintenance warranty, the price of a setup is ridiculously economical. I've brought my other guitar back three or four times now for minor fixes and it's always back in my mitts by gig time. Best shop in town, hands down.

Now I know why this guys get rated highly, I went in to get a guitar for a setup which I bought just a few days ago and Im glad I got recommended to go to R guitars otherwise I would not have known we had luthier(s) like this in calgary.The guitar plays like a dream and I daresay, even better than when it was new.

Just received my Les Paul back from Steve after having a new nylon nut installed, tuner hardware aging, 50’s wiring and a detailed setup. Easily the best setup and work ever done on any of my guitars.. absolutely fantastic craftsmanship, attention to detail and customer service as usual. This guitar is so easy to play , rings out beautifully and just received the top of line guitar spa treatment. I’m just blown away at how it pretty much stomps all over the R9 I had a few years ago. If you love your guitar you just purchased and you want to make sure it gets the best setup you can get, take it to R guitars before doing anything else

I've been playing the two guitars I got serviced for about a month now and am very happy with Steve's work. I brought in an old Martin and classical guitar to get serviced and Steve and his team did a phenomenal job.The installed and setup bone saddles noticeably boost the presence and sustain of the treble, especially on the classical. It also fixed some buzzing in the mid range.The Martin plays smooth as a river rock. R Guitars is prompt, professional, and truly sculpt the smoothest frets in the West.""
