Dave is awesome and it's just so smooth to deal with 1st fence. We had surveys done and they came just in time last year to finish 3 sides of fences for us. We love the mental posts in and the double gates to make sure the dog won't get out. Dave also lent us a temporary fence for free on the other side as we are going on construction last year and have to finish off that side later.They came back this year and finished the last side of the fence and gate for us. The crews are friendly and professional, the job is done quickly and nicely. All the fences look so amazing and I would definitely reach out to 1st fence in the future for any fence-related jobs.

Enquired with company to have two steel posts installed to be clad later on. Had a visit. Called twice for an update. Haven't heard a thing since. More than 6 months and counting...

If I could give them 10 stars I would!I can’t say enough great things about these guys. They answered quickly and never treated me like an inconvenience. On top of it they were available instantly and came the next day. Which is a rare event for companies in Halifax.They showed up and quickly fixed the issue that would’ve taken us many hours. Couldn’t ask for anything easier.Don’t think of using any other fence company but F1rst Fence !

I worked for the wood fence division for nearly a year and only met the owner Dave once. He promised a company truck and to compensate our fuel costs for our personal vehicles. Neither of which came to fruition.We were told we would be laid off for the winter months and that never happened... instead myself and the two others in the wood division crew having seen the lack of interest in the employees and absolute disorganization we decided to quit before Christmas.It has been over 4 weeks since we were last paid and they have not paid all three of us and will not respond to our texts or phone calls. I didn't want to stoop to this level but I think customers deserve to know they are dealing with a dishonest and uncaring owner who uses hardworking people and thinks it is appropriate to not pay employees when they decide to move on.

We wanted a chain-link fence for our backyard, and received multiple quotes. David was the fastest to respond to came to our place right away to measure and discuss what we were looking for, so he could provide a quote. I appreciated how knowledgeable David was, explained the types of materials he used and the whole process. He indicated that he used higher quality materials than some of his counterparts (sturdier poles and fencing) and it looks like that this is true based on some other chain-link fences in our neighbourhood. His quote came in on par or slightly under. David was always quick to answer questions.As for the actual building of the fence, I could have not dealt with a more patient and friendly team. They answered all my questions, addressed all my concerns (wanting to make sure it was level along the back, even though our ground wasn't level) and were just so friendly and always smiling. They worked hard and our entire fence (140 feet total) was built in a day and half (with concrete poured to support all the fence poles). Everything was level and the gates opened and closed smoothly. I highly recommend David and his team.

We are SO happy with our black chain link fence!! The crew working here today were fantastic!They are prompt with communication, fantastic to work with and have excellent pricing! I 110% recommend them!Thank you F1rst Fence. The humans in our house are happy but even more important…you made our dog very happy to have her back yard back! :)

In response to the review by Angus.He was never promised a company truck or money to compensate fuel costs, he didn’t want to come to the shop in the morning and decided he would meet the crews on-site on the days he decided he would come to work.He was also not laid off because 1. He didn’t accumulate enough hours to qualify to be laid off and 2. He was not brought back due to quality or work, tardiness and inability to put in more than 3 days of work a week.He was paid last week.We do care about our employees as we have 14 other ones who are happy, who show up to work everyday and who don’t expect handouts.
