Hi-Rigger Tree Service

I've used them several times and always had great service.

These guys showed up this morning (Wednesday, May 27th, 2015) to top a cherry tree growing too close to a power pole in front of our house, as they had been contracted to do by BC Hydro.Not only did they top the tree, they cut it right down to the ground. Then proceeded to do the same to a vibrant, healthy apple tree that is (was) growing on the property line. This tree was nowhere near the pole, and like any apple tree, grew out, not up. I have been diligent in trimming this tree for as long as I've lived in this house. Not only was it not a problem, but it provided lots of apples to the community, passerby, kids and myself alike. It was a non issue tree that was no more that 12-15 feet tall. Nowhere even REMOTELY close to the power lines. Yet, they cut it down to the dirt as well.Beside that apple tree was a cherry tree. It's now gone too. To the dirt. Again - absolutely no need whatsoever to remove the tree. Time will tell, as I'm having a surveyor from the city of Nanaimo come to take official measurements, but I'm about 95% sure that the apple and cherry tree were on private property. (Both trees were behind the waterworks access boxes, and those boxes generally indicate the property line between city and private property)Whether a miscommunication between BC hydro and Hi-Rigger, or their hurry to get the job done as quickly as possible, I don't know, but trees were taken that didn't need taking. I will be going after Hi-Rigger with every legal recourse I have if they did indeed take trees from my property.Worth mentioning as well, when I walked out to confront the crew, I was told that some trees would be staying, yet they took everything. And then left a mess behind that I now have to dispose of. Large sections of cut up tree trunk, branches, etc. Just left next to the stump for me to have to deal with.All calls to head office went unreturned. I was just blown off by everyone at Hi-Rigger.Not pleased.
