Our son’s issues were very complex, and Venture were the first professionals to take it seriously, as well as the first ones to give us hope that things could change. It was a challenging six months for our son, but he is grateful to say that it saved his life. He learned to identify & work with his challenges, and also to develop his strengths & natural talents. For the first time in his life, he has goals beyond a day, and the confidence to carry them out. He is able to manage his emotions, and communicate calmly & effectively. In his own words: “This is me! The real me, without all the anger & shame & addictions!”The professionals at Venture are very skilled & caring, and our son formed a close bond with his warm & loving host family. We are grateful for the relief & support they provided to our family, so that we have all had a chance to heal and come back together safely. Our only caveat is that, despite working effectively with digitally addicted youth, there seems to be a blind spot when it comes to television: We had to advocate strongly for them to recognize TV addiction as an issue. Also, it might be more useful to do the Psych Ed assessment after detox is complete.

Our son spent 6 months at the Residential Campus and Academy and then 3 more months attending only the Academy. During these last 3 months he lived on his own in an apartment near the campus. Once he came home, he also continued with his counsellor twice a month during his return to normal activities. Our son's situation was quite different than most of the clients in that he suffered from such extreme social anxiety that he could not attend school or even communicate what he was feeling and why he was not doing all of the things that should be part of a teenagers life. This anxiety still complicates all of his social activities. Since attending Venture Academy he has been able to now identify his triggers, allowing him to be able to deal with his anxieties in a more positive manner. His time at Venture also marked the start of his love of weight lifting! This activity was an integral part of the growth of his self-confidence. All of the teachers, house parents, and counsellors at the Academy work holistically, which was extremely helpful in creating a positive approach to dealing with his issues. Our son still wants to go back to the Academy for visits and just last week he stated that his time at the Academy was so good because it helped him with his confidence". He still deals with anxiety and some weeks are better than others but on the whole we are happy to have a son who is attending school and communicating with his parents. As parents

I have to say at a time of great stress and anxiety, working with the Venture staff and support team was an immense relieve and support to me along with my granddaughter at a time we so needed it.Their emotional, physical and mental support program was well organized, had caring people invovled that truly did want to help to see our family thrive again.I can't express how grateful I am for this program.

My daughter experienced trama years before she attended Venture, we tried basically everything to assist her on her journey. As she contiued to decline we felt like we were completely out of options, at a last ditch effort we decided to entertain the option of enrolling her into Venture. With the cost associated with it we did wobble and after a couple of incidents I knew this situation was out of my hands and needed addition suporrt for both my daughter and I. She was admitted days later due to a recent opening. We dropped her off wishing for the best and the first week was turbulent, but as the weeks contiued we seen improvments and so did her team at Venture. As she contiued to work on herself we seen the light at the end of a long dark tunnel. She had the choice to stay longer and on her own accord she stayed for another month to continue therapy. She came home and worked really hard on herself and 2 years later she's happy, confinent, and excelling. We are very pleased that we decied to explore these options my daughters future looks bright and prosperous.
