My husband and I have been taking dance lessons at Social Ease for over 3 years. It has built up our confidence in dancing and we have made great dance friends along the way. Both Michelle and Greg are awesome teachers. If you are considering you want to learn to dance and have fun , this is the studio for you. No previous experience necessarily.

First time doing anything regarding a dance class and Michelle was an absolute gem in making us feel comfortable with our clumsy left feet. After the 6 week course we had a solid understanding of movement and timing

Just finished the 6 week group salsa course and it was awesome! Michelle (our wonderful teacher) was so patient, asked a lot of questions to make sure we were comfortable & understanding the moves, and just made the whole experience fun for everyone. My partner and I are excited to try another course. Highly recommend!

It's been over a decade of knowing Greg and Michelle and they are so amazing at their craft. Learning from them is exactly how you want to learn. Great instruction, patience but also knowing the right amount to push you out of your comfort zone into your potential. It's great fun. I recommend to everyone I know! Can't wait to keep learning!

TLDR: Social Ease Dance provides top quality dance instruction for adults in a supportive and positive manner. Even if you’ve never stepped on a dance floor in your life. Before I give details - if you’ve only seen their website; it fails to demonstrate the variety of their offerings (@ least at the time of writing this) - definitely check out their socials instead.Long version:Have you ever wanted to dance, but known your body just doesn’t do that? Do you want to meet friendly people in a positive and welcoming space? Grab some popcorn and settle in for the longer version of this review ;).New to the area and amongst a few life changes, I was looking for a new hobby that would let me meet other humans. I’d always wanted to dance, but never had. Like I’m talking even teenage parties, while I’d be out on the floor I was very cognizant that I had no idea how to move my body in the way so many others appeared to do effortlessly. Life moves on, as it will, and eventually I married my husband who also doesn’t dance. And in his case, doesn’t want to. He did, however, begrudgingly agree to try - mostly because of the aforementioned wanting to meet new people. So social media algorithms being what they are, I soon saw a post for “Shine” - a woman’s only dance class. Hmmm dance where I don’t need a partner? Potential.I convinced a friend w similar dancing ability (or lack thereof) to join me and reached out to the studio. I had many questions, but one of the top was “is this class hopelessly-incompetent beginner appropriate” lol. The response was positive, upbeat, and easy-going. I would come to learn this was a theme ;)So day one arrives and the class is a mix of ages, capabilities, and nerves lol. Some clearly knew each other and once we started it was obvious some knew how to dance - like *really* knew. But also - some of us were only just discovering we have feet. And what’s important is - that was totally okay.I have a lot of exp in coaching adults (not in dance - obviously!) and I can state without hesitation Michelle is one of the best coaches I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Positive, upbeat, inclusive - even, perhaps especially, for those w no natural talent. An ability to describe things multiple different ways, coupled with the patience to do so. And - importantly - rates her activities. You’ll often hear “choose your level” as she gives multiple options for what will work in the next exercise. It enables the class as a group to work on the same dance while each individual can focus on the level or challenge relevant to them.Classes always have the option afterwards to video any new skills - super helpful for those ambitious enough to practice at home. Michelle is also very quick to answer questions throughout the week which is lovely and amazingly helpful to a lost beginner. The Fusion classes that appear every once in a while have a very similar feel. They move a tiny bit faster and lead, in 2h, to complete choreography for one song. Usually with a snack and social break in between. These are a blast. I’m never sure I want to go, but I always have a ton of fun while I’m there and it definitely accelerates the learning.And…. The husband who didn’t want to dance? Joined me for beginner Salsa and is willing to do level 2. So I’m gonna call that a win and a testament to the great culture Michelle and Gregory have created. All the stars. Highly recommend.
