Northern Star Hotel & Convention Center

Sharing this experience on behalf of my friend. My friend went to this hotel after a 17 hours day of work, he was super exhausted and upon his arrival the front desk was extremely rude and was calling him names and slurs. The front desk individual was extremely racist. When my friend asked to speak to the Manager, the front desk representative refused and stated that he was the manager. My friend chose to ignore it at the time, and went ahead to the room. Upon the arrival to the room, not only was the room dirty, but the AC was broken, so after countless calls and requests to repair the AC, the repair person showed up and repaired it. My friend then walked downstairs with the repair person, and asked them for their number as he wanted to reach out to the repair team directly rather than be ambushed by the front desk again if the AC was to break again. Upon that, the front desk representative told the repair person to not give him his number or he will be fired from the job. My friend then was fed up with this treatment so they went and spoke to the manager. The manager was no help and was equally rude and his behaviour was fairly off as well. My friend then went to his room as he was exhausted from the day and from the continuous harassment from the hotel staff. Upon his arrival to his room, he received a call from his manager due to a complaint from the front desk that my friend was rude despite him being harassed.Recap: the service is horrible, the staff my friend dealt with were racist, and the rooms were not clean. Definitely would not recommend.

Room was wet and muggy. Was able to get different blankets and sheets but they eventually got wet to. Wonder if they had a flood recently?Breakfast was pretty bland... Maybe when they get the other side of the hotel done with renos they can shut this side down and do the same. Not recommended.

Charged us 25$ more then advertised. , breakfast is trash place is filthy staff is rude , spend an extra 10$ and stay at slave lake inn way better breakfast and overall nicer place to stay , staff knocking on the door at 9:30 rushing us to checkout

This is the first review I’ve ever written, it’s feel warranted after staying at this hotel. My room felt like a murder scene with recently dried blood on the chair, desk and spattered across two whole walls. There was a big dark stain on the carpet by the door (more blood?) and the carpet between the beds was damp (cleaned blood?). When I told the staff they did not seem surprised. This was the last room at the hotel and in slave lake. When I asked for a discount she offered 10%, which after paying 169 +25 for the pet fee, when it was posted online for 119 per night felt like she was rubbing salt in an already open wound. After they cleaned all the walls and the cleaner spoke with the manager I was offered another 10% and they waved the pet fee. Anyways, all this to say I woke up feeling like someone had been freshly murdered in the room. Unless you’re into this kind of thing I would not recommend staying here.

No hot water when I got back after an 18 hour day. Tried to have a shower and wash my face. Nope.Tried calling only get voice mail and no one at reception, I assume there fixing the issue?100+$ and can’t have a bath. I dunno whhhhhhaaaaaaaaaawawa

Rooms where gross bathrooms disgusting the price was a lie I ended up paying 160 for 1 night people sleeping in stairway and hallway front desk was very rude never will I come back to this establishment

Opened up hide a bed to find dirt, hair and crumbs and who knows what else from previous guests. Obviously the sheet was never changed from guest to guest and anything that fell through the cushions while people were sitting on the couch built up on the bed sheet. The drawer on the desk looked like someone brushed the hair over it while open and had a dry scalp, carpet stained in multiple spots, shower was either scalding or cold, spent whole shower fiddling with knob, shower curtain rod falling off, screws stripped out. Free breakfast was coffee or cereal (didn't see milk) nothing hot ready to go. Tv remote didn't work had to use side buttons on tv, good thing I brought my firestick. Rarely a person at front desk. Overall a poor experience. Won't be returning.

The male I dealt with at the front desk seem like he doesn't know how to do the job. Kept mentioning deposit and stuff, my company booked the room for me so I don't deal with this. He was even charging extra for earlier check in wow, I've never been charged for earlier check in, in my life and I've stayed in many hotels. This review got the extra star cause the lady at the front was nicer and even told me to come back about 10ish so I can get my room as she knew I had to sleep for my shift at 7pm.
