Red Lion Inn & Suites Victoria
Hotel is ok for the price. Everything was clean. What sets this property apart from others is that front desk staff are exceptionally courteous and beyond-the-call personable. Manager Chris couldn’t do enough to be helpful; personable and friendly. Good experience. It’s a little out of the city center, but there is good bus service to city center and a taxi is about $15 Canadian.

Rooms a little small and doors are thin (the cleaning ladies use walkie talkies in the morning and you feel like you're in the middle of a stake out). Rooms only cleaned on request and in my case they seemed offended that I asked

It is an old hotel with small rooms… customer service was also average. We arrived at 3pm for check in and were told that we have to wait 15-20 minutes as room was not ready. Housekeeping kept on knocking on the door between 9am-10am. They need to co-ordinate with front desk to check if guests have checked out and not by disturbing guests.

Hotel is a bit old and rooms a little small, but price is excellent. Chinese restaurant in basement is adequate but price is expensive compared to other Chinese restaurants. Attitude at restaurant also not the friendliest. Location is perfect being in the middle between downtown and ferry terminal / Butchart Gardens, etc. But need a car to make it work.

It was a very nice hotel through and through.I was in room 403 and on the top floor and for some reason at 2:30am it sounded like someone was walking around “upstairs” and on top of that I could faintly hear a woman talking from the other room but when I went to see what it was there was no one to be seen, and after the sun went down it constantly felt like there was something trying to see us through the window. Occasionally I could see someone standing by the tv/curtain. I was extremely freaked out almost all night. But overall I had an amazing experience and chances are next time I stay in Victoria I’ll most likely be staying at the red lion.

Unfortunately I found that the housekeeping wasn't what I would have liked. Corners weren't cleaned and it looked as if someone had been sitting on one of the beds. But other than that, decently clean. The fire door by my room would only close if you pulled it closed, so was always open, so much for stopping the flames from spreading. The good point was the well worn pool. It was a nice temperature and good size. Because of that pool I will try this hotel again.

In a world full of horrible customer service it was extremely refreshing to have stayed here. Our room was everything we needed and hotels location was perfect. The front desk manager Chris and his staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be returning. Very good value.
