Very nice restaurant, food was delicious and service was top notch.Will come back for:The burrata and the mushroom rigatoni pasta with truffles were to die for. Along with the opera cake, was soft, nutty and decadent.Can improve:The tenderloin. Was underwhelming for the price, didn't care for the large onion rings, also for being medium rare the steak was dry, the saving grace was the red wine jus. Also would recommend server communicate the timing for the steak, and that it would be served after the pasta.Overall would rate the dining experience an 8/10.

Loved out dinner at VELA last night! Service was very attentive and helpful and the FOOD! The tuna crudo was a star and also enjoyed the artichoke cakes. Already planning to go back for a special occasion.

Blown away with the interior designs. My family and I had gotten together for my birthday and I have to say it was a great experience. Nick was our server who offered exceptional service and had great recommendations for vegetarian options. We had a ricotta pasta, burrata, and mushrooms, as well as a tropical storm cocktail (which was non-alcoholic). A bit pricey, but the food was amazing and so worth it!

The atmosphere was really nice, very beautiful decor, with live music. Our server was nice and our water glass was always full.Our favourite part of the meal with dessert, we loved the chocolate hazelnut tart and the pistachio strawberry cream puff. Both are amazing and must try’s!As for the entrees…The Halibut was a good size but it was salty and taste was average. The flatiron medium rare came out on the more well done side, and the second time around, it was extremely rare to the point where it was difficult to cut.. this was disappointing.Overall we enjoyed our time and will only be going back for the desserts and cocktails.

I had a great experience dining at Vela. The atmosphere, vibe and service was outstanding. The decor and the architecture was absolutely stunning and something you need to experience in person. The food wasn’t bad, but it was lacking a bit of flavor. I’ve tried a lot better restaurants in Toronto, but the food was still good. Noteable dishes would be the Halibut and all the sides we ordered (fries, Shishito peppers and carrots) Definitely rate those a 10/10. The seafood platter was ok, but the crab legs had no meat in them.. it would be better if they were cut or presented in a different way. The artichoke cakes weren’t bad, but they needed more sauce given the size of each. Also, the baked Alaska wasn’t the best. I’d skip this an try something else on the menu. The drinks were also great. Moscow Mules we’re a 10/10. Also, parking is right across the street so no stress trying to figure that out.

Staff was very accommodating and nice, beautiful restaurant they go out of their way to make an experience out of the meal. Food and drinks were all beyond any of our expectations. Baked Alaska was incredible. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Toronto.

Great restaurant! Went with my friends, all of us who work in restaurant industry. Loved the atmosphere and the food. Service felt a bit slow but nothing alarming, the open kitchen is great we could interact with the chef's making our food. The scallops were delicious and the beef tartare was absolutely stunning. The lamb was tender and juicy and the octopus cooked to perfection. My personal favorite was the side of carrots and the banana pudding. 10/10 would recommend and will visit again to try their whole menu!

I had brunch at Vela today. The entire dining room was empty which slightly took away from the ambience but the patio seemed pretty lively. There was also a saxophonist and guitarist playing live music which was nice.Our server was extremely friendly and recommended some drinks and food - most of which we ordered. The placebo cocktails aka mocktails were amazing. I highly recommend getting the Tropical Storm which is fruity with a kick of ginger at the end and the Mooncake which is similar to a pina colada - just a lot lighter. For food, we were advised that the “small plates” have more complex flavours compared to the large plates. We ordered the Avocado Tostado, Norwegian Salmon Tower, Crispy Mushrooms and a side order of Black Truffle that was placed on top of complimentary eggs. Every food dish was good but nothing stood out or had complex flavours. The Chocolate Brownie that was recommended was not the best if I am being quite honest. It was lacking a chocolate flavour and not decadent in any way - more like a cake. For $16, it was very disappointing.Overall, I think Vela has the right vibe including nice food presentation and great drinks but the brunch is mediocre. I know brunch has only been offered for a week now but something needs to be improved as soon as possible especially at a price point of over $170 spent on two people with no alcohol - not to mention the parking nearby that was $20. Keep in mind, neighbouring restaurants are offering limitless brunch menus at $75-85 per person with alcohol. That says a lot in my opinion.
