The lamb meatballs were the best meatballs I've ever had! My entire meal was wonderful!! Scallops cooked to perfection! I can't forget to mention the tricolore spritz cocktail either. I loved the atmosphere and everyone who I interacted with. Love. Love. Love!

Food and Atmosphere: 4 starsService: 1 star (with grace)San Morello is an absolutely beautiful restaurant with modern decor and a quaint outdoor dining area. I landed there after asking locals to recommend a spot that offered a delicious seafood pasta.Upon entering, I was cheerfully greeted and seated at the perfect spot on the patio. My waiter greeted me promptly and poured my water as I looked over the menu. My first impression was favorable.I opted for the Black Shells pasta dish based recommendation and opted for water as my beverage. The service declined from there. My dish arrived, but I had not received silverware. I didn't mind the couple of minutes it took for my waiter to check in with me because I was able to take really awesome photos of my dish while I waited.I will say, my pasta was awesome! This is the second time in my entire life that a pasta dish impressed me beyond belief. The lobster bits were apparent, and the sauce was creamy and perfectly balanced. The butter and lobster flavors were well pronounced. Bravo! My biggest issue is that once I was done, it took at least 10 minutes for someone to bring my check. My waiter was out of sight, so someone else closed and presented my check to me with the accurate cost of my meal, I presented my credit card for payment. Minutes later, my initial waiter brought my receipt for signature, which was more than $18 greater than my bill. This sat really wrong with me because anyone who understands payment procedures realizes that opening and changing a ticket once it's been presented is a very deliberate thing.I brought the increased price to my waiter's attention, and he stated that someone added a glass of wine (if that were true) to my tab. Considering that someone was him, made me feel like he lacked integrity. The most interesting part is that I never received the itemized revised bill, so I will never know if it was wine or $18 gratuity that was added. Once corrected, I left him a proper 18% tip (maybe he could really use the money).I left the patio and asked to privately speak to the manager inside. I was continually told that she was running around and would be right with me by the gentleman at the host stand. After 15 minutes, I approached the host stand and explained the issue. By that time, the lady who sat me was there. She immediately brought the manager to me.The manager immediately shared with me how apologetic the server was and told me he came to her right away to share how embarrassed and apologetic he was. However, she was extremely dismissive of the consumer experience and was a bit inexperienced and immature for the conversation.Integrity is a big deal for me. My concern is that this is the first time he has actually been caught. San Morello is a fine dining experience. I only ordered pasta, so the discrepancy was easy to spot. Quite possibly, there are several unassuming consumers who have signed bills for greater amounts without noticing.Consumers and owners beware.

Tried for the first time while staying in Detroit. Really cute spot and chic vibe. Pasta was delicious and cocktails were great. A little overpriced for what it was. Also, felt a little awkward when there were many tables open but we were seated right on top of another couple. We asked to scoot down one table and they accommodated.

Such a wonderful lunch spot for a casual bite or a business lunch. The bar scene at night is also lively. The pizza is an elevated classic and all the salads and appetizers are delicious and largely portioned. The service is always 10/10!

I’m not sure why other reviews are bad because we had an amazing time. The food was delicious and the service was great. Pumpkin Angliotti and the cod together, amazing. Pizza was a little floppy but otherwise the flavor was very good. Golden roasted beets? Best I’ve had in Detroit. Torta Settevell dessert was delicious. So good, going to have my rehearsal dinner here.

This was an enjoyable evening. We drank a couple of improvised sweet mocktails, strawberry and lime. Our starter was the housemade focaccia with roasted asparagus & basil pesto. For our entrées, we ordered the parmesan risotto with asparagus, meyer lemon, fontina d’aosta and my grandmothers ravioli. For the dessert, we did the torta setteveli chocolate-hazelnut layer cake & fior di latte gelato. Everything listed above falls under the same category, mediocre. I’m not dying to come back to get any of them again in all transparency. We were serviced by Brianna who was helpful and descriptive about the menu. The atmosphere is gorgeous, it’s in the shinola hotel! I’d suggest giving this place a try but perhaps ordering things other than what my guest and I got.

Delicious! Surprised by the flavors on all of our dishes. Loved the meatballs. Also loved my lobster squid ink tortellini (?) and hubby's Sicilian pizza. We got the donut sundae for dessert, I'd rather get a cheesecake next time. We'd go back.

Great service by all staff. Helpful in information about the dishes and drinks, attentive with water and coursing. Outstanding flavor profile of seasonal menu, particularly the risotto! Will definitely return!
