On the recommendation of a Saskatoon law firm and a family friend, my wife and I engaged Kaylea Lax to update our wills. We forwarded our previous will, a written update outline, a net worth statement and the firm’s completed ‘Will Information Sheet’. At Kaylea’s request and with a half hours’ notice, we were participated in a brief ‘Zoom” meeting. On more than two occasions, the clarifications Kaylea requested were contained in the information already provided to her. She also provided a ‘Health Care Directive' which we had previously told her was not required. I was surprised by the unprofessional (general appearance, missing periods, blank lines, erratic line spacing) first draft we received. We electronically returned the draft with a significant number of requests, comments and questions. When the second draft arrived with similar editorial shortcomings and failed to accurately describe a number of our bequeathmeants we advised Kaylea that we would be updating our wills with another firm.This process lasted nearly a month. We received an invoice for 67% of the estimated cost to complete the wills.We cannot recommend this lawyer for wills.In response to the OWNER'S Comments: Your stated objective of “…. wanted to make sure I expressed your wishes accurately ….” was negated by your office’s negligible follow-up, particularly ensuing the first draft. The drafts were prepared by assuming some of our intentions, without clarification, misunderstanding or ignoring written and/or oral instructions, and deciding on the appropriate risk level for us.

Mr. Hopley was incredibly professional, thorough, and patient with my MANY questions during a very difficult time/situation. He was acutely aware of my well-being during negotiations (in all ways), and I recommend Scott Hopley to anyone/everyone I know - he is trustworthy. Many thanks to Scott... his hard work and dedication were above and beyond!!!

Office was locked when we arrived for our appointment. Phone calls and emails went unanswered for hours. The most helpful person was the legal assistant (whom the lawyer immediately threw under the bus). Stay away.
