Qualicum Dental

Wow... I really dislike making negative reviews but if this can prevent someone else from receiving poor treatment then I am happy to help. I received braces here as a young teen and unfortunately my teeth reverted so I went back to the office to see what could be done. After waiting for about 45 minutes, I finally received a 5 minute consultation just to be told that yeah my teeth don't look the greatest and it will be 10 grand. I felt quite discouraged and went to see another dentist who informed me that my teeth reverting was due in part to the poor construction of my permanent retainer - also quite discouraging. He then referred me to an orthodontist and they quoted me about half the cost to have the issue corrected and that company actually took the time to do proper x-rays and imaging to come up with that quote (all complementary) instead of a quick 5 minute look at my mouth. I also have a friend who has had nothing but issues with this practice so I would recommend avoiding this office at all costs.

Brought in the whole family of 4 to have new assessments and cleanings and Dr Andy Wood and the front desk ladies and hygienist were all excellent.The most thorough initial exam ever and great patient education to explain it all.Even the teenagers were happyThanks guysSee you next timeCheersNorman FamilyUcluelet, BC

Dr. Wood is an excellent informative dentist. He gave me my options with the possible failure scenarios and told me how to get out of pain without antibiotics! I have never had so much detail and advice during a dental visit. Plus he was very understanding of my fear and painLESS!! I almost can't wait to see him again....I can't believe I found a dentist who cares about me and my wallet.

I came to Qualicum Dental as a walk in patient on vacation from England. I could hardly have expected such outstanding treatment that I received from Rafael Magana. His expertise and attention to detail were of the highest order. His nurse, Christine, was empathetic and the receptionist was efficient and friendly. All in all I was seen and treated all within an hour of my initial phone call at 7.45am. Charged were modest. All round I can hardly believe my good fortune.

Such a bad experience with Dr Woods. No respect for us at all. If you are looking for someone blaming and judging you instead of helping/treating you, you find the right person! He spends so much time telling us eating fruit was the source of all our problem with cavities. He prefer to talk about politic (blaming the government politic regarding the canadian guide for food habits) rather than listening to us and our reality (we have super healthy food habits, so fruit was NOT the issue). Very disppointing: we have lost a great deal of time dealing with our son cavities because he doesn't do his job seriously.If I had more time and patience, I would fill a complain regarding him and his way of doing his practice.If you have kids, STAY AWAY!PS: the staff is amazing so this is only concerning Dr Woods and his strange behaviour.

Went up on for an emergency appointment as my friend had severe mouth pain and could not eat. She was wondering if it was her wisdom teeth.Dr. Woods laughed when she told him she was in pain. Told her it was just your tmg" and wanted to file her teeth. He didn't even take an x-ray. She walked out and booked another dentist in victoria. Sure enough her WISDOM TEETH are coming in. Thanks for nothing Andy Woods. You wasted time and failed to provide adequate care. You made no real effort to make a diagnosis and left someone in pain because of it."

I have been fortunate to have seen various dentists at this office in my travels. I have had such prompt and efficient appointments. I have received excellent care and detailed treatment plans. They have answered my questions and given the relevant knowledge needed for my care. I have resided in 3 other provinces and prefer the care given from Qualicum Dental.

I do not like going to dentists at all. I've avoided dentists when ever possible. Well, when my bridge broke, I had no choice and found Qualicum Dental open and surprisingly available to see me. I just moved to the Island recently and so glad I found this place. They are all friendly, accommodating, and empathetic. I will now start the road to proper dental health with a clinic that I am comfortable with.

Dr. Andrew Wood provided honest, reasonable, skilled experience, rooted in care. I could not ask for more. He fixed a problem not identified or treated by another dentist. He relieved my stress, based on the possibility of a huge bill, much inconvenience and loads of time. I am grateful and now, have no pain. Thanks so much.
