Long & McQuade Musical Instruments
Best music store I've been to in North America. This Long & McQuade in particular has amazing musicians working there and their pricing is comparable to online but you can return or ask questions about how to use their myriad of products. They also have a lesson centre in it and I can't believe their customer service levels on the electronic/rental side either.

This was very aweful experince with this store. I registered a guitar class and strated from today, Nov. 06 at 4pm. My GPS was dead on the road driving from Parksville to Nanaimo. I was so excited to come to learn guitar originally. I called their staff to guide me how to go there because I did not have GPS and they guided me the wrong direction for three times. It took me over one hour to go there. Then, the staff told me that I still have to pay for today‘s class even I did not have any lessons. I would not recommend anyone to go there. I am new to the island and no one gave me one chance to pass the payment today. I will never , ever endorse all my friends and colleagues to come the Nanaimo store. That was terrible for their customer service!!!

Staff that is educated on the products they sell. They carry instruments for musicians of any skill level and for those just learning. They used to run a rent-to-own program for students (as well as monthly rentals) and I imagine they still do. If they haven't got something in stock, they will check their other stores for you and have one delivered if needed. All in all a great music store and experience every time!

I have been dealing at the Nanaimo store for a good many years and have been served by some good people over time but, recently, I've been dealing with Lindsay Ward ( Assistant Manager ) That woman is outstanding / professional / caring / sensitive to a person's needs, goes the extra mile etc! Long & McQuade Musical Instruments
I wanted to rent a bass guitar (try before you buy) and even though there were only two in stock, the team at Long & McQuade took one and added it to their rental stock for me. They were super helpful and made the whole experience about as stressful as ordering a beer. Returning the equipment was also completely stress free. These guys (and the store in Victoria) are my go-to for all my music needs.
