As some of you might have done, I read Dr Komer’s book and contacted his office hopeful to add his services to my recovery team/journey. I’ve had several concussions, have post concussion syndrome, PTSD and hormone imbalance. Long story as short as possible, his receptionist has extremely poor “bedside” manners for someone who works at a clinic that is known for treatments offered by a doctor who wrote a book titled “New Hope for Concussions, TBI & PTSD”.After speaking to her I was anything but hopeful, in fact, her rudeness and lack of empathy or ability to provide proper details triggered my PTSD.For reference, the current waiting list is 10-12 months, she mentioned the treatment would include the initial assessment (OHIP covered, they don’t accept patients who are not on OHIP) and then three follow up appointments that would be $450 if paid together or $500 if paid separately. So compared to past reviews, you now seem to only get 3 appointments and not 5.Also, once I mentioned I am not OHIP covered but willing to pay privately, she said they don’t accept patients not covered by OHIP (the concussions being the reason i haven’t been able to complete applications needed that would enable me to get OHIP) and she could not suggest any other possible treatment facilities.I have not seen Dr Komer but based on this interaction with his receptionist and the quite rude voicemail I reached the previous times I called, which bluntly stated to not even leave a message, I would be cautious especially if your PTSD symptoms are bothersome because they will probably be triggered by this kind of staff and as I understand from other doctors, stress and pain actually inhibits the brain’s ability to heal due to energy resources so this would not be a helpful experience in that case.Wish everyone the best in their healing.

I saw Dr. Komer for hormone related issues. Overall, I wasn't impressed especially after waiting for over a year to meet with him. If I had to do it all over again I would have gone to a naturopathic doctor or functional medicine doctor from the start. For the cost, a ND and FMD spend more one-on-one time with you (60 minutes initial app., 30-45 minutes thereafter) and there is open dialogue between doctor and patient, which is not the case with Dr. Komer; he is dismissive, indifferent, rude and uncaring when discussing concerns with him. He makes it clear that he is the expert and is not interested in discussing recent literature/research or answering questions that go against his methods. He is also all over the map, which makes it hard to follow and understand him. He jumps around from one topic to another. He charges $500 for 4 sessions, which I feel is expensive. The sessions are app.15-20 minutes and I didn't find them to be very useful except for the first app., when you receive a copy of the supplements he recommends and orders a full panel bloodwork. At the time of booking my appointment, there was a year waiting list, which is a long wait.In the time since following his program, I would say that my symptoms improved about 10%-15%. I expected to be further along in my recovery especially after seeing him for almost a year and spending $500 for his program and close to $1000 on supplements and thyroid meds.I'm currently seeing a ND who has helped me tremendously since I first met with her this year. My symptoms have improved greatly including my energy levels. She tweaked my medication by increasing the dosage, which made a huge difference and added a supplement, which has also been beneficial. And the cost of my ND was half of what I spent on Dr. Komer and have seen significant improvement over several months.

Absolutely the worst medical experience I have had in my entire life. The total lack of caring and sheer arrogance of this doctor is astounding. If you don’t fit his cookie cutter text book knowledge all the staff including the doctor are totally lost and have no idea (or make any effort) in trying to figure out what is going on. As a Dr, of course he has some expertise in his domain but for someone who is supposed to be ahead of their time in terms of application of knowledge, he is very closed-minded when it comes to discussing recent literature/research. He seems to think he is the only expert in his field and knows everything. He also doesn't seem to like to or won’t answer any questions that go against his methods or his limited knowledge. Also as a supposed concussion specialist he totally ignored the multiple concussions I have had. As a hormone specialist they totally ignore very relevant things such as SHBG, total Thyroid panel, free and available testosterone (only test total T which is pretty useless) and only cared about getting me on TRT as he seems to think that is the solution to everything. They just don't care to try to figure out the root cause of your problem. He is the rudest and most condescending medical practitioner I have ever encountered. He never showed any sign of empathy or interest in hearing me out. He seems to have everything figured out so cuts you off constantly rather than listen to what you have to say. He is short tempered and moody at the best of times. If you have any adverse effects he doesn’t want to know or care about them, everything is just a “coincidence” and can never be the TRT in his opinion.Unless you are desperate or know 100% TRT is your solution I would very strongly recommend finding someone else or at the minimum try other things before going this route. If TRT doesn’t work for you they have no protocol in getting you off it which is scary, they also want nothing to do with you if you even consider getting off it (even if it isn’t helping or in my case making me much worse). I am no longer a patient and much happier for it.

I saw Dr. Komer for a year (5 appointments) and spent about $1,500 on the appointments, vitamins, and testosterone over the course of a year and a half. The staff were pleasant and helpful. They seem quite swamped and still maintained a positive attitude in my experience.Dr. Komer greeted me with a smile and compassion most of the time. He has lots to say and answered my questions with great zeal and in-depthedness.The clinic was in the same building as the pharmacy and getting all the necessary items for testosterone was quick and easy.Dr. Komer seems quite knowledgable on the subject of hormones and brain health.

I am sorry to read the negative reviews of Dr. Komer. He has been absolutely incredible with me, I've been a patient for three years and can't say enough nice things about his empathy and T therapy completely changed my life. I highly recommend the clinic, and Dr. Komer and his excellent nursing staff.

His treatment" not only failed to address core issues but also put me in a state that made my condition much worse. My blood was so toxic to me and put me at risk for multiple fatal conditions. I spent years in pain

Dr. K is a specialist like no other. He changed my life. He continues to ensure I’m healthy and always has time for me when required. Constantly following up with bloodwork and monitoring both the big and small picture. You can’t not like Dr.Komer. Caring and understanding. I can’t be more grateful for what he’s done for me.

I had a very complicated case, and I have never met a Dr that went as far and beyond as Dr Komer did. In fact feel I owe my life to him. I had an extreme case of fibroids that were beyond the dismissive diagnosis I received from other doctors. I ended up having a full hysterectomy done in London, and he was supportive, factual, thorough and compassionate from start to finish. I cannot say enough good things about his pre-care and after care. He stopped me from blowing off how sick I was. Please follow him on Twitter about nutrition, vitamin D, and all the other passionate advice he gives on what Canadians need nutritionally. I follow his advice after all my treatment as it has been life changing. Thank you Dr Komer for giving me my life back, you promised me if I followed your advice my quality of life would improve. It did by leaps and bounds.

Extremely rude and condescending doctor. I’ve waited for 8 months for my appointment with him and when I finally met him, he saw me for 10 minutes tops and did not even look me in the eye. All the time he kept on scribbling something which I believe was for another patient. Not interested with my case at all and dismissed me when I started asking questions. How rude is that? I will be glad if he retires soon, sorry for his patients.
